I'm actually relieved that DEQM won't be offered. I'll probably end the year at about 64K EQMs - way too few to cram a bunch of MRs into my schedule. With DEQM, I could have reached 1K with one SMF-SFO-NRT-SIN and back, but that would run me $1500 for the flight and maybe $500 for DEQM, before even considering the time it would take (about 51 hours, nearly all of it in the air). Now I have no regrets ;)

looks like SWU's on coupon connection might just go up in value ^

Funny. This will be my first year as 1K with real BIS (plus VISA EQM). I'd still like to see DEQM. Not even sure why. But, interesting that they're pulling back on it. Also interesting what they seem to be focused on in terms of premium passengers. I'm definitely seeing an uptick in service from many places (even the RCC matron in ORD today!). Interesting...

Why would people jump ship because of no DEQM promotion? AFAIK, no other airline offers similar "short cuts" to elites except for US. Would people defect from UA to US? Doubt it.

I think I will PHL-ANC on US run for UA 1K~~

Well at least it'll save me from debating trying to make 1P which also means no international travel on *A. Aside from another mistake fare I don't see myself keeping 2P past 2/09..

FWIW, I spoke to a MP agent tonight and she said they definitively found out today that DEQM will NOT be offered this year. :td::td:

Anybody else ask today and get the same answer?

I would hope so. I don't want to pay for my Trip to Asia in January! :(

I kinda feel bad for all the people that were depending on this year's Double EQM Promo. Kinda sucks, UA could make it up to them by posting a mistake fare. C'mon business class to SIN for $240 roundtrip. LOL

Huh? You should not feel bad. DEQM or SWUs are not guaranteed by United. They can give and take at any time. And UA does not need to make it up in anyway to those harping for DEQM

Probably correct!

The only time I recall them doing this was in 2002, to make up for all the missed travel at the end of 2001. I wouldn't expect them to do it again.

Well, this would certainly changes plans a bit. I had actually scheduled a trip next week with the hope it would fall under DEQM, but I guess the 2 extra SWUs are not to be.
