I find it hard to belive they will not offer it. How many people do you think pay the $500 to get DEQM's? Even if we are only talking a thousand people that is $500k. I dont thing they are concerned about about diluting the elite pool....that is obvious by recent actions. I do think they are trying to keep people guessing and drive the up the price people are willing to pay. I still believe it will happen and it will be $600. I dont care if it happens to be honest as I have always made 1K without it but I do think I took advantage of it the first year because I got some extra SWU's if memory serves me correctly. It would be nice to make it easier for me wife to make 1k as she only has 70k eqm's so far and limited time to fly but wont kill us either way. I would like to see the 1K pool get a bit smaller and a little tougher to get but just hard to believe UA will pass on the additional revenue involved.

I like the idea that they'd experiment like that.

Also, one way to reduce the number of angry 1Ks who can't get their upgrades to clear with the smaller intn'l F and C cabins: reduce the number of 1Ks. :o

Now the only problem is they're diluting the 1P pool. There's only so much humility to go around, you know.

I don't think so. I suspect more people took advantage of DEQM to become 1P than to become 1K (no evidence, just a hunch).

This has probably been said before, but I am not going to read all 34 pages to confirm. The real reason they are not going to offer DEQM this year is because with the new C and F seats, there won't be as much space for NRSA travel. Not offering DEQM will ensure that there is a better chance for NRSA travel to compensate.

;)

Exactly. From now on I believe you will see UA make elite status harder and harder to get, and at the same time probably reducing the perks (only giving 4 SWU instead of the normal 6) and making upgrades less available and cost more miles. It's a question of supply and demand, and the new C and F cabins are the determining factor. This process of scaling back the number of top tier elites will take place gradually over the next several years, just like the time table for introducing the new cabins (with fewer seats).

Doesn't AA give you more EXP systemwides, than United does presently anyway?

Maybe some FF'ers will defect to them...

Yep. It's 8 for AA EXP -- which is comforting to know. If AA reduce its SWU to 6, I'd be concerned.

Am I the only one seeing a 1K site message I've never seen before saying "We're currently preforming scheduled upgrades to the site. We apoligize for the inconvenience. Please check back soon"?!?

Dare we still dream?

This is just too funny! Boy am I happy I don't need DEQM's, because I would probably have been as crazy as some of you!:p Why don't we just say it's not happening with 99% certainty, and if it does happen it'll be a pleasant surprise, ok?
