Just play with the codes up top -- you'll find all sorts of strange thing pop up if you change a digit like these which all differ ;) -

Can someone solve or break the code?

It's not actually a code. It's Vignette, a web site content management system that generates arbitrary numeric codes for pages when they are created. They really are arbitrary and unrelated to the content. Too bad, tho...

they better have it this year, I am 46000 away to keep my 1K. If they don't offer, I will live on the plane for rest of 2007 weekends:(:(

Judging from the number of flyers who surge forward when 1K and Premier Execs are called to board, I'd say UA have enough loyalty club members already. Do they further cut perks to the already-enrolled (such as the subtle un-inviting of Premier Execs to use the red carpet) or do they simply stop offering inducements for more to qualify for the good statuses? I suspect the latter. I'm not expecting a double EQM offer this year unless it comes with qualifications and a higher price tag. I'd love to be proven wrong though!!

It very much depends on where you're flying. And even at hubs (DEN and ORD and IAD), there aren't a lot that "surge" for 1K (which now board separately from 1P and 2P, as you note).

Again, though, I have to wonder at all this. UA is likely to get virtually full upper-class cabins today, so while some FFs may not get an upgrade, there's really no change in cost for UA as a result. I don't see a downside for UA to offer the DEQM.

I did decide to buy a ticket rather than use miles as a result of the DEQM not being offered yet, though. I'm sure I'm not alone. So, it also is an aid to them to delay the announcement a while. I won't be surprised either way... I am sure that there are a lot of variables: how many MP members are how close to their next level, how full are the planes from now until year-end, etc.

I agree with that. Ultimately, whether or not they'll offer the DEQM will be (or perhaps already has been) a business decision ... UA will decide what's best for UA. There are many factors to consider, not only short term, but long term as well. For example, is it good or bad (for UA) to offer the DEQM each and every year? Yes, in the short term it raises cash but on the flip side of the coin, they may be setting up the expectation amongst FF'ers that the promotional can be counted on to reach elite status. Such an expectation amongst its customers may or may not be a benefit to UA in the long run. Only UA really knows.

That long has happened. 4 times in a row, converging towards one model ... it's written in stone now.

So if the marketing gurus if UA know something different, they err.

I don't think the absence of DEQM really counts as a cutback for frequent fliers -- it's just cutting back on the number of us to get to act like more-frequent fliers than we are.

Maybe UA would like to see a bit of that occur?

54K of BIS at normal seat prices.

Hey our 1K cards are easily in the bag, but if UA did NOT do it this year I bet they'd make more money than if they did not. ;)

No way can anyone log up 25K BIS for $500 these days. @:-)
