Is it time for the Double EQM Promo Speculation Thread?

Okay, you know you wanted it.

Anybody have any predictions for if and/or when there will be an end-of-year Double EQM promo?

No. I curse you.

My prediction (and I was correct last year):p: UA will have DEQM but it will either be $499 with several restrictions, such as higher fare classes or a shorter period, or the price will go up to $699ish. I am guessing it will be closer to the former.

My prediction:

$599 with an option after the fact to buy EQMs for 10 cpm (5K mile cap). Another possible twist: Lower price but no 1K through DEQM -- you actually gotta get the B in the S (or milk some other EQM source). It would further differentiate 1Ks. Think about it: what is the value of 6 SWUs?

No. I didn't. ;)

For this 1P, I hope the offer comes and is good. I've booked a lot of travel between October 1 and December 15 (which I think is the usual period these offers run). For $499 - $599 I'd be able to jump up to 1K for the first time ever, but only if the offer is on all UA fares (non-code share) and not just the M,H,B,Y,Z,D,C,P,A,F ones...

I guess the latter. I'll bet they moved away from fare-class restrictions and toward the higher fee because this was more successful. Easier to figure out, too. I'm betting a $699 price but same period and fare classes.

Oy.

If the promo comes, it won't be for another month at the very least, probably more like the very end of September/start of October.

If we haven't heard anything by, say, October 10, then no promo.

I think they'll break down and offer it......but you'll have to pay for it big time!

I personally rather we not have both: the promo and the speculation thread:)

IF they do it, I do think it would be nice if the best you could get from it was 1P. With the new seats coming next year we dont need a bunch of 1K lites running around with SWUs.

Heh, not all of us who strive to be "1K lites" will be taking away the precious int'l UGs with SWUs; some of us fly mostly, or exclusively, domestic!

Also, those suites aren't coming online until that later half of the year, right? Therefore you can always hope the "1K lites" would "waste" their SWUs on the "wrong" product. (Gotta love those quotes...)

I received United email for the Double EQM promo on October 2, 2007, but it was announced even earlier on the 1K website last year. Does anyone have insight as to the success of the 2006 promo compared to previous years.

What email service do you use that sends you email from the future? :-)

Is it grinch-like of me to not want it this year? I'm sitting at 92k EQM right now and would really prefer to see fewer 1Ks competing for what appears to be a shrinking supply of int'l seats for upgrade :). Ok, that's just mean.

However, there's another part of me that says if it does come, I might have a SIN trip in Oct/Nov that might get me over the 150k threshold. I'm so torn! :D

OK, since someone else started this --- (and slightly off 2007 program topic)
does anyone remember what the restrictions were for last year? -- did you have to purchase and fly within the time frame specified or just fly?
Thanks for the info.
