I don't know why I think this, but my guess is that any DEQM promo won't be announced until after the East Coast 10% off coupon expires on 9/30.

Why are you thinking that?

Last year (2006), I received the e-mail on October 2. It began: (You had to register by November 24.)

The previous year (2005), the e-mail arrived on October 17. That year, the fee was $200 and the qualifying flights had to be flown between October 25 and December 15. (And that year, you could register as late as December 15.)

In 2003, the e-mail arrived on October 15. I don't have the date handy for 2004, but I'm guessing it was around mid-October as well. (The fee was $150 in 2004 and $100 in 2003 -- I do have that info.)

That's why my money is on $650. ;)

But I've dug up the old e-mails, and in the past (it's only been offered in the past four years, 2003-2006) it's been announced early to mid-October (mostly mid-October).

Of course, an earlier announcement would be most welcome! Makes planning easier. ;)

yes it would be most welcome but for me where it's looking like a 1k-->2p drop due to being out of work, i'm hoping the price doesn't go up as if it does, it's 2p here i come (and even last year's price, 5 bills is gonna be a stretch as well)

C'mon UA i'm waiting! Won't need it for status although the two additional SWU's I would be nice. I'm guessing it will remain at 500 USD although would shell out a bit more (especially given the more favorable exchange rates compared to this time last year :)). I see this was "announced" on FT Sept 29 (which was a little later than the previous year) so it's time to start getting nervous

FlyerTalkers are the most impatient people on the planet!

Perhaps this year will be different and UA has decided not to run the DEQM offer...

aceman Sep 30, 2007 12:31 pm

out of interest, do miles earned over the DEQM promo count towards lifetime/MM status?

Some of us are holding purchases until we learn whether the DEQM is offered again and, if so, under what terms.

No, just BIS miles

My vacation at the end of the year would be either Eueope or SIN/BKK/HKG depending on DEQM promo. Need about 10K to reach 1K and don't really have time to do MR. I'm holding off buying ticket now.

Duh.

I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE MYSELF!!!

Nonetheless, that doesn't justify the insanely unreasonable level of impatience. Just because one is holding off on bookings doesn't mean that United Airlines has to march to one's own drumbeat.... it really is NOT all about "me, me, me...." @:-) (Oh, but I keep forgetting that this is FlyerTalk -- it's the land of "me, me, me.")

Since last year the promo broke out on September 28, I don't think expecting an announcement soon is "unreasonable". Nobody is saying United has to do this or that (except those who argue that the DEQM is a dilution of status). As the title of this tread says, this is just about speculation, so no need to get upset when we do exactly that.

I think you should re-read my post (and the one I was responding to), rather than inventing things. :p
