I did this once when it was $99. I will not do it if this is more than $199. I would like to make 1P once :-).

Cheers

They would be stupid not to run the DEQM as I know so many of us book a lot more flights simply because they run this promo. Otherwise, I would be flying on Qantas where I am Plat. anyway.

Bump . . . any speculation on when this may be announced? We've got to be getting fairly close.

If/when it happens, it will be posted on FT within 20 seconds. Until then, it's all crystal balls and tarot cards.

I have been grappling on paper at what cost the DEQM would be worth it to me to make 1K. If I value each SWU at $200, each CR1 at $150, the 4 extra e500's I'd get with the added mileage run I'd have to do at $140, and the credit card discount of $60, it comes out to $2600 face value for making 1K. I'd subtract the cost of a mileage run to PBI, the ticket for my SO to endure the pain with me, a night at a hotel, and just the ridiculousness of getting on another plane, parking, dog kennel, car mileage to SEA, extra food cost: about $700. This would justify a DEQM payment of $1900 (as long as it starts by 10/25 so a scheduled PHL trip is also included). Since the DEQM will undoubtedly be much less than $1900, do I need sunscreen at night in Palm Beach?

DEQM with mixed metal itinerary

A question for the veterans, and I apologize if answered, as I have tried to do a number of searches and read through the various threads discussing DEQM from years past, but I did not see a definitive answer. Now, I know it will be subject to whatever may (or may not be) done with year add now having said that, it is my understanding that DEQM has only been on qualifying UA metal flights. I have no question that there is no DEQM credit for partner flights. Here is the question though, in years past, if one has a mixed metal itinerary (which I know can be ticketed around if careful but with irregular ops and living in CLT you know where you get stuck...ughhh) do you nonetheless get DEQM credit for the UA metal and normal EQM credit for the non-UA metal or is the entire itinerary simply then subject to normal EQM credit? Insights are welcomed and requested!!! Safe travels!!:)

Last year during the DEQM period I got 2eqms for each UA/UX metal mile and 1 eqm for each US metal mile, however I was always ticketed on UA ticket stock, not sure if that makes a difference

Last year it was around Sept 28. Who knows what they will do this year.

At the beginning of 2007 I was happy to retain 1P with only a very faint hope for 1K. As it happens I had an unexpected transpac develop suddenly and so I took advantage of some very creative routing (every thought I was nuts for taking so many fights when I could have found a non-stop on another carrier ) which brought me to 1K on 9/12.

Now I don't have to worry about juggling cost/value for the DEQM this year, but next will we'll have to wait an see!

it doesn't make diff, as long as UA flight, it will earn double EQM.

The only thing I am not sure is that whether E-ticket is required

Yes - here's from last year's T&Cs:

Qualifying travel must be posted to Mileage Plus account to qualify for the offer on/before December 31, 2006. Offer valid on flights operated by United, United Express®, and Ted only and not applicable on United-marketed code-share flights operated by other carriers.

It's getting to be about that time of year, isn't it... ;)

So, is it going to happen or not? :p

Any day now... :D Or not! :(
