They have raised it $100 every year since they began and it has always been good for any fare. Betting on $599 and any fare. However, at some point, the public will balk, sales will slack and they will stop raising the rate. I would LOVE to know what the revenue is for this promo, comparing year for year. My husband and I have been 1K lites ever since they started the promo.
Are we remembering a different promotion's price? |

Can anyone definitely say what were the start dates for the last three promotions? (2006, 2005, 2004)
Here's how you can find out for yourself. Do a search of "double AND October" in this forum; it shouldn't take too long to find the threads that discussed each program in detail. They are long, titled accordingly, and have the last activity around Nov/Dec of the year. |

I'd rather it didn't.
It devalues the whole thing, eg less upgrade opportunities, for those of us who actually pay real money to get there (I'm 150,000 miles this year). United already has a program to reward the spending of "real money." It's called UGS. But if your financial reach is beyond 1K but short of UGS, then you're in an "unhappy medium" that will always exist between a mile-based program (1K) and a fare-based program (UGS). The thresholds of this medium can be set lower or higher, but there will always be some people in the medium who feel unhappy, so I don't think UA can do anything about that. |

I also recalled the price as going up $100 per year, but some FTers pointed me to old threads indicating that the price jump was actually $49-$99-$199-$499!

DEQM and CoS bonus
Can someone tell me if in the past the DEQM promo doubled all EQM including the CoS bonus for B+/Z+ fares, or just the base EQM? In other words, if last year you flew 10,000 bis miles on a B fare basis code ticket, would you get 30,000 EQM with the DEQM promo, or only 25,000? Also, did the extra EQM count towards e500 certificates?

Sorry to hear this, but it might be an incentive for another mileage run during this timeframe.
Well since a MR for me entails a 14 hr flt and approx $6000 AUD (no one to mind my child, so she travels too - and she needs status also). Its a bit hard to pull that off when you are working and have just had your 3 weeks holiday. Tempting but not really possible for me on so many levels ;). |
I posted this as a new thread and was re-directed here:
I wondered if there is any chance that United will offer the promotion again with a supplementary fee like they did the last few years? What do you think? This would be my only chance to get my 1K this year. I had a rather serious accident with subsequent conditions that have kept me from flying. I still have my SWUs sitting there waiting that I use them... _________ So I guess I have to read the whole thread, now... :D |

That promo gives double redeemable miles (no double EQMs), while the possible promo being discussed here is about double elite qualifying miles.
Thanks for picking that up :) |
