Is there a betting line on this yet - DEQM or no DEQM this year?; >$500 or <$500?; announcement within the week or still later?; etc.

"A few thousand" Choices miles? AFAIK, the minimum is 10,000, and that'll only get you 1,000 EQMs. Just so you're aware! @:-)

(In my vocabulary, "a few" generally implies a number far less than 10!)

I think everyone needs to take a breather from this issue. Last year's offer didn't come out until October 24th. I don't expect this one to be much sooner. If they follow the same schedule, it will come out October 23rd, this year. That's the comparable Tuesday.

I received my offer last year on Oct 2. Some years it was much later but not last year. I like having a lot of notice since some fares require an advance purchase. Qualified FLYING was from Oct 24 to Dec 16.

Last year's offer didn't count for flights until Oct 24 or so, but it was ANNOUNCED around September 30th. But if you had read much of this thread you would know that, and the fact that the announcements in earlier years were later than that.

I think you mean DRDMs apply to all UA tickets regardless of source. Am I correct? You can get double RDM's for purchasing a United ticket, even if it's not on United.com. The EQM bonus is only given for UA ticket purchases made on UA.com. UA.com purchases that are not actual ticket purchases will not yield the EQMs.

Credit card boni-EQM aside: all tickets whose travel dates fall within the DEQM period (and given the pax signed up for the promo ;) ) do qualify for DEQM, regardless of issuing source. In the past, even regardless of issuing carrier, as I had 220 (LH) tickets DEQMed on UA operated flights.

Same for the DRDM boni in August and September, ticket source is irrelevant.

As for additional CC EQM, I reckon that your are correct.

Maybe UA should sell options and higher order derivatives on this - that would be a splendid source of income as they can even trigger if those options will be exercised or not :p.

Me too. My signature says it all!

Does your signature also include the "impurities" of class of service bonuses?

Because a general opposition to the DEQM promo, on the basis of devaluation, has always seemed just a little bit silly to me...like maybe if someone would say "I am always against COS bonuses, because I always earn my 1K in Y, or in upgraded C."

I am concerned that some people on the UA forum use the fake word "boni" so much that some non-native English speakers will be fooled into thinking it is a real word.

I gotta say this thread is even cracking me up, and I know no more than anyone else.:D Just for the sake of entertainment I hope nothing comes for another month.

You ought to be highly ashamed of yourself for even thinking such a thing. I may not last another week of anticipation... :( :D

Personally, I prefer the spelling "bonii"...

The speculation is keeping me from booking a couple of MRs, to see if I can get by booking less late-year MRs by paying the fee. I already have 2, maybe 3 trips I'm taking regardless, but am holding off on booking to see whether or not to take nonstops or route for more EQM/EQS to be doubled.

Still, though, I'll be booking one of them soon anyway (early November transcon) so I can get my wife's award ticket without paying the close-in fees.

This reminds me of another promo being speculated about right now: Canon's rebate program, which is usually announced around 10/15 or so. People are speculating what equipment will be included and what rebate levels will be, whether the rebates will be doubled or tripled for multiple purchases, etc., many of them ready to spend several thousand $$ as soon as (and if) the terms are announced.

I was feeling the same way until I found out that SEA-LAX (my standard route) will be mostly CRJs and 737s next year. Pretty much deflated my desire to make 1P.

PCTraveler Oct 9, 2007 10:13 am

Same situation here, though may settle for 1P, which I've already qualified for. Should be a decent revenue boost for UA on what often would be unsold inventory.

Anyone at UA listening???

Same boat here. I'll make 1K one way or another but I'd like to plan how ASAP.
