Seriously, are you sure this wasn't some dream? FT Forum Letters? "I never thought I'd be writing to you, but I was on a UA flight and..."

My next United flight will take me over 3 MM, and I am eagerly waiting for the same treatment you just described.
Hell can freeze over is still a better possibility.

Heading to SYD via LAX.
I will cross 1 Million miles 71 miles out from LAX.
I'm so glad I will not cross over in an RJ from AUS-LAX.

FWIW, does UA still send out a separate MM kit/package once you cross the threshold? I hit my milestone this past November, and the only time there was an acknowledgement of the 1MM status was on the 2014 card and the letter from Smisek.

True Story....shocked me as well.
Thanks!
Lots of flying since the early 90's. Doubt I will make 3 M as the travel is starting to wear on me. I'm starting to avoid much of the travel I used to do. Otherwise I could easily get to 3 or maybe 4M before all is said and done

I got my MM kit as part of my Gold kit a few days ago. It included an extra luggage tag and a weird magnetic Million Mile placard/paperweight thingy.

Crossed over 1 MM on Monday night, LAX-SYD.
No fan fare, no announcement, no nothing. The folks at the UC in Austin and LAX thanked me when I told them though.
Sat next to a 3 MM guy on the way to SYD. He showed me an engraved Ipod Touch he received from UA for hitting 2 MM. Now that is a cool chochtkey for hitting a milestone.

My partner will cross 5MM in a few hours on UA907 ORD-FRA, less than a 1,000 miles before landing at FRA. The captain and a GS manager came to greet him at his seat in 1K before the flight took off.

Eagerly awaiting to hear how UA celebrates your crossing of such a big MILEstone...congratulations on having done a fair amount of "time" travel!

I had a very positive surprise today. As expected nothing happened during my flight crossing the 2MM, but today I received an email from UA congratulating me and allowed me to select a gift. Selections contained a Kindle Fire and iPod Touch.
