Indeed.
I went from lax to sfo recently on a widebody (don't remember if it was 767-300
or -400 but at least 30 seats in biz)

My cpu had gone thru 2 days before, however there were at least two dozen
people in the q hoping for an upgrade (as per display on the monitors).

Once airborn, however, i turned around and noticed at least half a dozen empty
seats... so they hadn't bothered to process them, let go good seats empty and
a bunch of their supposedly best customers go fuming.

As someone else put it fittingly: UA: "Sweeping" elite upgrades under the rug
since 2012.

I thought they stopped that practice alltogether after the
merger (cf. million-miler-lawsuit thread).

Did you get any rpu's/gpu's when you passed 1mm (i.e.
unrelated to you being 1k, passing 100k miles etc.) ?

I'm a few 1000 miles away from 1mm and curious.

no -- you do get the option of designating a companion (same address) a status match (but the companion does not get rpu/gpus as a MM companion)

No longer has to be same address. I changed my S/O and spoke to 2 agents & 3 supervisors as my S/O uses a Russian address & I use aDubai address. I didn't want to get in trouble and was willing to just not give her my status but I was assured that as of a few months ago the address no longer needs be the same.

While they may be waiving that requirement, the T&Cs still state
All 2013 members who have one million lifetime flight miles and beyond earn annual status benefits for themselves, as well as the option to extend their current Premier status to a companion (defined as a spouse, significant other or individual who resides at the same home address, based on MileagePlus profile information) on an annual basis. Companion benefits are available on an annual, not lifetime, basis. Companion benefits expire upon the death of the Million Miler or failure of the companion to meet the eligibility requirements set forth below, including, but not limited to, divorce or separation.

Good point but I changed her address for upcoming 2014 so perhaps they see new rules not posted yet. I'm as scared as the next guy to trust what one agent tells me but I had numerous agents quote almost word for word the same thing, that the same address was no longer necessary fir 2014.

Remember, UA only likes to post new rules we don't like, not the ones we do. It's all part of their very special United only ANTI marketing campaign. But try as they might, for some reason they still do business despite themselves

Many examples of UA not posting new rules we don't like. Little rhyme or reason for much they do these days.

Crossed 2 million last night on IAD-LHR. Customer service at IAD came on board and congratulated me with a 2MM card. Also received a note from the pilot. Altogether a nice experience.
