I *finally* crossed 1MM earlier this week on a MEL-LAX flight (originally it would have been on the LAX-MEL flight a few weeks prior, but some travel plan changes in the spring delayed that). Happy to have finally made it, and I was able to take a picture of the flight progress screen within a few hundred miles after the crossing point.
The purser came over and mentioned the 1MM thing to me at the beginning of the flight, with congratulations and a comment that he would bring out some champagne when it happened. That was nice. Alas, no champagne (or even "champagne") was ever actually brought out, so that was mildly disappointing, but since I wasn't expecting anything, I wasn't too put out either.
I had a connecting flight from LAX that I had to change, but my spouse, who continued on the original flight, said that some of the FAs on the next flight asked where I was and mentioned the 1MM milestone too, so that's another nice touch.

Crossed 2M on a recent SFO-CLE flight. Was an amazing experience. I stopped by the cockpit to ask the captain if it would be possible to let me know where we were when we had flown 756 miles. He stopped me and said, are you Mr. SFO_Chad in 4F. (wearing my typical hoodie and jeans)? I said told him I was. He and the first officer invited me into the cockpit and I got my picture taken with both of them while sitting in the other pilots seat. We chatted for a bit and the captain said the chief pilot at SFO had told them I was on the flight and to stop by my seat and say hi. I was pretty shocked and impressed.
Fast forward...captain mentions the milestone during his welcome remarks. And then as we were crossing 756 miles into the flight, he came out of the cockpit, shook my hand, told me where we were and what time it was (also written down on his business card) and gave me a copy of the flight plan.

3MM
I crossed the 3MM mark 1665 miles into my flight on UA1175 SFO-HNL July 4th. It was also my 362nd flight to HNL.
Mom told me earlier this year that she wanted to be on the flight with me. It made logistics a bit more difficult, but I always make sure mom gets what she wants.
When we approached the gate there was a GS agent waiting to greet me. Both GAs said, “Is that her?” They stopped what they were doing to shake my hand and thank me for my loyalty. The GS agent escorted us onto the plane and brought me to the cockpit to introduce me to the Captain and FO. The Captain gave me his seat and we took a picture. We chatted a bit about my travels with United and I thanked them for helping me explore the world and getting me home safely. They thanked me for my loyalty to United. The GS agent said there aren’t that many 3MMers. I was surprised by that.
Went back to my seat in Y where mom was waiting patiently (even a 3MM flight doesn’t help your upgrade clear in GS-heavy SFO; we remained at #8 and #9 on the list; typical for me). The Captain mentioned my 3MM flight during his boarding announcement and thanked me again for being on board. The head of Customer Service came on board to meet me, shook my hand and thanked me for my loyalty. A bit later a Service Director came on board to meet me, shook my hand, and thanked me for my loyalty. The passengers around were wondering what was going on but figured it out by our conversations. The passenger in front of me turned around and shook my hand. He’d never met a 3MMer. Another passenger said he told his wife that he should get my autograph. LOL!
I estimated I would cross the mark around 12:12 PDT (after all I used to play Halfway to Hawaii a lot) and I was very close. The Purser and several FAs started gathering around me and told me I just crossed 3MM. They made an announcement over the PA and there was applause from them and other passengers. They presented a bottle of wine and all of them had questions about how I did it (a member since 1983) and all asked how I did it (sitting in this seat a lot), they hoped it was mostly pleasure, not business (yes). Sadly, it wasn’t one of my regular crews. At 2MM it was.
They had had us laughing the whole flight. Whenever I got up out of my seat one of them came running over to see if I needed something. When they came around with the snack cart, when I asked what they had the FA said I could have it all and started pulling things out of the cart and putting it on our tray tables.
Lots of snacks!
When I asked for some ice water the FA brought me this.

Later in the flight the FO brought me the flight chart with the spot marked and added the longitude and latitude (so I could see it on google earth). They also wrote a nice note. What a great souvenir!

Reached one million miles on a flight from ord-tpa on Wednesday this week. 42 miles outside of Tampa so somewhere over the Gulf of Mexico. Didn’t expect much so my expectations were spot on. No announcement, no champagne, no upgrade, no visit from the pilot, no snack from the cart. In fact just a normal uneventful regular United flight. So that’s one million on BA and one million on United. Wonder who I should concentrate on now?

Well, after 20 years, I finally made 1MM! It took this long partly because in the early years, I credited some UA flights to AC (not even knowing about the MM program back then).
I crossed the 1MM threshold on a recent flight IAD-MAD. I was disappointed that there was no recognition from anyone either on the ground or in the air. This flight was booked a long time ago, so they should have been able to tell that I'd hit this milestone on this particular flight.
In any case, the app now recognizes me as 1MM, and I've gone ahead and registered my wife for companion benefits.

Didn't plan my 1MM very well and ended up on a short haul subcontracted flight JFK to IAD. I quote the FA: "There is a note here that wants me to say you reached something called one million something. Um, do you get something for that?" Guess not.

Unless a 1MMer makes a fuss prior to their flight, no recognition seems to be the norm. Indeed, even making a fuss may not elicit anything. Your "recognition" will come from your wife's pleasure that she is now lifetime *G and can get international lounge access, more bags and E+ at booking even if you are not flying with her.
I had recently a birthday card presented at the gate by a GS agent and a happy birthday wish from an FA ,

Not so , possibly in the past when the agents and FA's did not have the customer information system they do now , it now depends on the motivation of the staff/crew.

Well I don't normally peruse this thread since I'm still a ways away from getting to 1MM, but then I remembered that I was on a flight out to HNL a few days ago and there was someone who made it to 3MM with much fanfare from the flight crew.

I'm always happy to meet other FTers along the way.I had an interesting experience on the way back, sitting in E+ because my upgrade didn't clear, as usual. During meal service the FA asked if I wanted to buy food. I replied that I'm a 1K and so is my mom. Her response was, "Oh are you the person who crosses three million miles on this flight? They told us about you." I told her it was the flight to HNL, not this one. She then continued on selling food. Two hours into the flight another flight attendant came by and stood in the aisle with her arms crossed and said, "So three million miles." The purser joined her and made a joke about me needing to get a life and trailed off about how she's never computed the miles she's flown in 34 years with the company. They offered me ice cream from F and anything I wanted to drink. We took the sundaes and thanked them. So the return flight they thought was my 3MM flight was a big nothing to them. Also, the purser was a regular on the route and knew me. So I wouldn't say it was due to the crew who work the Hawaii flights. Hopefully, the customer service training all 25000 of them are going to get will make a difference.
