If I have a confirmed upgrade with pluspoints on my flight, if I change my flight to another time (not with SDC), do they pluspoints get automatically refunded?

Plenty. The 1st date I checked showed PZ9. SFO-LHR, Feb 9th.

FYI,
FWIW, I was unable to see the Standby or Upgrade list 7 days out (today). :( Found a few posts in the bug fix thread that indicates it's only working 2-3 days out now since August. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/33403388-post817.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/33463566-post844.html I'm not sure where the 7 days reference from the other poster came from. |

I got upgraded to F using PP on the SFO-HNL flight, and to P+ using Miles on the HNL-DEN flight. I took the option for P+ or F on the HNL-DEN.
Is it possible I could still get moved up from P+ to F on the HNL-DEN if space available? The offer was miles to P+ or miles + spend for F. |

if you confirmed PE and have waitlisted F then yes, you can still get into F via the waitlist. Without doing that, no, pretty much zero chance.
I can now see the upgrade list and with 10 F remaining (including the 2 singles by the galley), 8 on the list and I'm #6, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get there and catch it in time to pick a seat. |
I was upgraded to F.
Why can't I change my seat on the HNL-DEN leg? (first leg is Hawaiian Air, where I had to check in.) |
PlusPoints required when fare class changes due to IROP
My apologies in advance - I'm sure this was asked but after extensive searches I cannot find an answer.
I was originally booked in K class on international flight so 80 points were required for upgrade to Polaris. Due to IROP I've been switched to another flight and now on a Y fare. When I went to request an upgrade the system only asked for 40 points. Is this appropriate behavior (and I'm lucky) or is the system going to choke when clearing the upgrades if it detects my original fare class is a K? Should I call in to have an agent change things? Happy to spend 80 points. (A long time back I had similar issue with a GPU, system allowed it to be applied to a high fare class do to IROP, however, when waitlist cleared it simply did not process because the original fare was not eligible for GPU). Thanks! |

Brilliant! Just to confirm I cleared into PZ on both legs! Thank you.

Only 40 points are required because your fare bucket is now Y instead of K.

I had a PZ cleared segment which got cancelled recently, and upon moving to a new flight, the fare code became P; original booking fare code = K. |
Strategy for first time Plus Points use?
So I squeaked out Platinum for the first, and probably only time, and I'm staring at these 40 Plus Points. I've read about how they work and I'm comfortable with the fare classes and all of that, but I'm trying to figure out the best strategy for using them.
My husband and I are going to Europe in a few months and we are flying LAX-EWR on the outbound (W morning) and IAD-LAX on the return (F night); these are both 772's. So I could apply for LAX-EWR in Business and Premium Economy, and IAD-LAX in Business (which we could potentially clear on a CPU, but I'm guessing that might be unlikely.) Should I just put in for all 3 options? Ideally, we'd like to have the IAD-LAX upgrade the most, as the extra space after Y on a transoceanic flight is nice (although hopefully there will be an equipment swap and we can just self-assign Premium Plus seats at that point). And I'm on the fence about putting in for LAX-EWR Premium Economy now, because if that clears first, then I think I can no longer waitlist for LAX-EWR Business since my points will be already redeemed (or am I wrong)? Or should I just put in for everything and be grateful if anything clears as a Platinum? Prior to this, we only ever had CPU's as Silver or Gold, so not sure what our expectations should be. |
We have 4 people traveling on a single record and need 80PP to upgrade everyone. I have 40 PP in my account and Mrs. B has 40 PP.
Do I need to split the record in order for the system to pull 40 from each account? I don't want the request to auto-cancel in the unlikely event it clears and only finds 40 in my account. Addendum: I guess the answer does not really matter as it is almost impossible to clear 4 at the same time. So I guess I gotta split 2+2.

Has anyone seen points not being deducted properly? Have noticed that waitlisted upgrades that get cleared during boarding don't deduct the points while an upgrade clearing shortly after check-in have been

You can apply PlusPoints requests on many flights as you want. If the first one clears, you won’t have any PPs left for other late flights. Because you only have 40 points, your options are limited. So, just request for Business for LAX-EWR and Premium Plus cabin for EWR-Europe flight (I would not select Premium Plus for lAX-EWR unless the upgrade clears instantly for second flight with RN space); also select first class upgrade for IAD-LAX. Just cross fingers afterwards! If you are willing to sit in different cabins and the fare class for EWR-Europe-IAD is W or above, you can split the reservation into two and apply PP request for yourself for both directions. If EWR-Europe flight has both Premium Plus and Polaris cabins, select both cabins for LAX-EWR-Europe. If Polaris for EWR-Europe clears, 40 PPs will be deducted regardless the upgrade situation of LAX-EWR. If only Premium Plus upgrade clears for the EWR-Europe flight, you will have 20 points remaining for IAD-LAX. So, for Europe-IAD, select both Polaris and Premium Plus cabin and first class for IAD-LAX. You could be upgraded to Premium Plus for the first flight and first class for the second with the remaining 20 PPs. If your fare class is one of G, K, L, T, or S, not basic economy, you can select Business/FC (Domestic flight) and Premium Plus (European flight) without splitting the reservation. The above sounds very complicated. Sorry about it. |
