To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

Always nice when it works out that way. I had a shot of making it on all domestic, but ended up with 3 weeks of no travels, and that did me in. I was pretty much flying DEN-FAT every single week during that time, and had I had 3 more of those, I would have crossed it and maintained my GS. Oh well!! Ended up working out well anyway, and just had to wait a little longer for the prize.

It's convenient that they allow you to change the 90 day window one time. I changed it to be the time when those trips were happening and it worked out. But yes, lucky it happened that way! Glad it worked out for you this year!

Final Invites to GS

While on the phone with GS, I inquired about when GS kits would mail. Was told January 11th is the day for Final invites to GS and kits would mail after that.
Watch your mail today if you are hoping for the invite.

To all GS members - In case you haven't seen the 2019 program changes, there are 2 aspects that will impact you: 1) not receiving any more Regional Upgrades (RPU) after 100K PQM (In my case, I clocked 300K PQM in 2018, so I will no longer receive 16 RPUs in 2019 if I meet the same level of PQMs this year) and 2) P fares accruing only 150% instead of 200% PQMs as they used to, which has a direct impact in the number of GPUs you will receive in 2019 as well since you will accrue less PQMs for the same flights on P fares now. I have sent an email to Oscar Munoz ([email protected]) suggesting if he may consider giving 4 Global Upgrades (GPU) when someone qualifies or requalifies for GS (like they do now when you reach 100K PQMs) to offset the impact of these 2 changes. I think the more GS members they hear from, the more likely it is they'll be willing to do something to offset the impact of these changes...

Based on the numbers people have reported that I'm very surprised that you were booted after 2 years. that $48K was all UA metal?

Also lost my GS status after 3 years but last year was definitely a low travel year. Will email them and hopefully receive a challenge. My question is, since I still have GS status from now till end Jan, Im planning on booking a few award flights in Apr and Oct and using my GPUs. If I end up changing the dates for those trips, will the GPUs still be reapplied to my award ticket since I will only be a 1K by then?

No- if any changes are made to the reservation after 1/31 the GPU's can't be re-applied. Everything has to be locked in by the end of the month.

Yup, 100% UA. In fact, almost $30K+ of that is J/D/C fares....I called the GS line, they said reconsideration opens 1/16....

Boo! Lost my GS after 1 year

Even though my spend was up over last year, I got booted down to 1K. For 2018, I had the following:

175K PQM $48k PQD. Out of DEN. Since a lot of my flights are to DXB, I always have to take either Luf or Swz for the FRA to DXB leg.
Is it worthwhile to submit a reconsideration request?

affyceo, if all or almost all of your PQDs are earned on UA/UX flights, I'd consider the reconsideration route. They might offer you a challenge as a first step.

Yep. Can't hurt to submit one. Those Air China, LUF, Singapore Airlines, Swiss Air flights are killing my UA/UX metal only numbers. I try to avoid those, but hard to do in certain parts of the world.
