To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

Leisure only GS members

Just curious...how many GS members earned their status from using personal assets...no business funded travel?

Any Chance? Still 1K

2017
PQM - 107,000
PQD - $17k

2018
PQM - 207,000
PQD - $37.5k
PQS - 137

IAH based. Any chance I’ll make the GS cut?

So I think I'm close enough to the bubble that I want to submit a request for review. Any sense of when the best time to do it without jumping the gun or missing the window?

Question: For the calculation of CPM on the spreadsheet, shouldn't it be calculated as PQD/Actual BIS? And not (PQD*100)/PQM - Round to nearest cent? Just curious

Out of a major hub, with that spend, I'd say your chances are slim to none unfortunately. YMMV, though.

I calculated mine that way. PQM is an inflated number. BIS miles seems more accurate.

Great. Let's create a summary in a month or so, once everyone has reported their qualifications. It would be useful to see the lowest reported qualifications, per location. And the difference between the new members and re-qualifiers.

Agree with TexasTea reply to RT Kinsey at IAH.
I have had bigger numbers than that for at least 5 years straight, and just made it in 2019

Sure thing, will do. I setup the google spreadsheet to run a pivot table. This should automatically update itself. The pivot table contains breakdown of mean PQM by airport, along with max and min ranges. I can run some more detailed reports after the spreadsheet gets filled with some more data.

I would love to know more about your class of booking in 2018. Was it nearly all full fare business/first.

But do we even have a common definition of "location"

Is it home airport based on address in the system?
Airport you fly most out of?
Airport you fly most into?
Airport you start the most round trips out of?

I still have no idea what they consider my home airport. I physically live closest to SJC (they afaik have no way of knowing that). My address in the system is closest to SNA. The majority of my flights originated out of PEK this year. My yield this year was barely north of 10 cents and I requalified. The first time I qualified was $39k spend, so I feel like home airport must matter.

Adambrau: yes you are correct. I will make the change on the form. Thanks for this catch.

On the form that I created, I left it up to each individual to decide. Most people will pick the airport that they fly the most from. There were a few that listed two airports as their "home". But for analysis purposes, it really is intended to mean the airport that you consider as home base. Thanks for your comment.

My travel was all leisure in 2018 originating out of EWR. Haven't been to JFK or LGA in years! No corporate discounts for me, but when you have a couple of $15k RT tickets to Europe and a few Z's to Asia, you actually only need about 4 trips to get both 1K (for the GPU's) and the GS invite.

No travel planned for 2019 yet - mainly because the one thing I now refuse to do is pay multiple $500 change fees on Z tickets. It takes patience as I love to tinker around with potential itineraries, however starting last year I only book if my trip is locked down. Whatever I spend goes only toward GS re-qualification!!

Thanks for responding. I also qualified for GS with leisure travel only. I currently have 48 RPU’s and 30 GPU’s on the books...indicative of mainly flying paid first/business fares.
