I presume EWR-HKG will get the new 77W. This route seems to be weight restricted due to the smaller 772ER operating the route right now. I hope EWR-PEK also gets the 77W, as the current market between the U.S. and China seems very prospecting.
my GPU's always upgrade so it might not be the best market to add the bigger 777-300

On rare occasion, the winds are stronger than forecast and a tech stop for fuel is required.

As a 772 captain once said to me on this flight, "We nearly always run out of water and come close to running out of fuel. Thankfully, not the other way around."
A pilot told me the most difficult route for them is ewr-bom, its the closest to 'running out" of fuel.

I'm not sure of the schedule change, but yes, hot weather can limit max take-off weight. The air is less dense -- same effect from taking off from high-altitude airports. That's why DEN's runway 16R/34L is so long at 16,000'. EWR's max length runway 4L/22R is 11,000'.

I think the flight gets delayed because of the usual summer afternoon thunderstorm activity in the Northeast.

And also because the plane stays at HKG overnight and the crew two nights. Little consequences delaying the flight by an hour or two (before time out) or even more if planned, while not waiting for too many passengers causes excessive workload and other disruptions to re-accommodate.

Is there a corresponding thread for routes that are still flying 3 class 777s and 767s / phase-out dates?

Also looks like SFO-TPE will get a 787-9 starting in the summer (based on seat maps for what's being sold). Or actually that's perhaps just part of UA's announcement that they're not going to sell GF seats after May 2018 since the 3-class planes will be getting new seats installed.

Is UA888/889 back to 77W, or is it still 772 with 4 wide in J?

The schedule past the January 18 ops period is still showing 772.

I'm seeing 777-300ERs on SFO-TPE from now through October 30th, 2018. I can't edit the wiki, but someone should update.

This holiday week UA 58/59 SFOFRASFO is not operating. Wondering if this plane will be used on another route, or just park at SFO?

All of the 773s are operating their regular routes except for N2243U (HNL-SFO), N2534U (LHR-IAH), and N2142U (LAX-MDT) - probably a sports charter.

Not sure what dates you were looking at. 77W resumes on SFO-PEK starting on Jan 18, and PEK-SFO on Jan 19.
It has been loaded into the schedule weeks ago. Unless it will revert back to 772 on those dates you have checked, at least it shows 77W on Jan 18 and Jan 19.

773s are running several charters for NCAA bowl games this week. U of Oklahoma (and band) had two aircraft chartered OKC to LAX. UCLA had one to/from LAX-PHX, and Penn State has a couple of charters on 773s MDT-PHX. Northwestern chartered a 777 ORD-BNA, but not sure if it was a -300 or -200 on that one. So....yes a reduced holiday schedule in some markets, but the planes are staying busy making money.

Yeah, late March (3/22) shows 772 as the equipment on the SO-PEK segment.
