As of Oct. 26, 2015 it no longer seems possible to access the old version of the website.

Workaround for Login & "Were sorry, but united.com was unable to complete your request." Problems:

Close United tab, clear browser cache, and delete all United cookies. Instead of logging back in using the home page yellow tile, click on the "Reservations -> Change or view reservations" link, and then login using the "MileagePlus: Sign in or join" link on the upper right of the page.

Accepting the fact that it is simply not going to happen. :-:

The execs care about revenue and margins. If the new booking process is selling more and higher fares and also better marketing the ancillary products then it will be around for a long, long time.

They'll care about us when their mahogany desks are scratched up with stacks of clay tablets!

When they get hundreds of emails from 1Ks and GS members here who obviously do care quite strongly, perhaps they'd take a harder look at the data and decide if its worth maintaining 2 sites to keep them happy.

Or perhaps not, but what is there to lose exactly?

I have used the Feedback button on the reservations page to let UA know how user Unfriendly their site is. It's the green button on the right side of the page.

They don't care about that. I've reported issues from day 1 that aren't fixed. The lack of posting by UA Digital Insider is telling.

If elites would flood the inboxes of execs that do care, it would have a much greater effect.

And I love how I can find a flight on google seach and link to UA to purchase and it is $2000 less than picking the same flights on UA.

I think the biggest attraction to the bean-counters is the way the new website only shows half of the fare at a time, while the old website gave you something of a teaser r/t fare that you had to play games to get to... but in any event, you had a target low fare in mind. No such animal with the new website; you don't see the totals until you've gone to a bit of trouble selecting your flights.

UA's change to giving you just half of the damages at a time isn't a new thing; Southwest & AA & JetBlue have been doing that for ages I think?

So... any armchair redesign of UA's website should probably keep in mind their strong desire to keep revealing only part of the total fare at a time. I think.

Just like all of our complaints over the past three years were listened to and given effect?

As I've said before, I like the new site. I spent most of this morning looking at potential flights and routings, and I really like the way I can see the lowest Y fare, the miles and money upgrade fare, and the cheapest F/BF fare all at the same time.

And Digital Insider has acknowledged the glitches I've flagged, and said they were on a list to be fixed.

The point is that it isn't the lowest fare as you can find that on other websites that will link to UA to book it. And you must not be looking for flights with R availability as that is harder.

Do they have a list of glitches that are up to be fixed posted anywhere? Then we don't have to keep complaining about them.

All in all I have found air fares to have gone up considerably on all airlines. Did I miss a huge increase in the price of gas?

Nope, but there has been a huge increase in profits (not just due to gas prices).

No but you may have noticed the massive consolidation in the industry over the past decade. We've lost NW, CO, US, AT and AA and are down to three nationals. Southwest isn't playing the price spoiler anymore but their fares aren't transparent into other booking engines so that isn't helping competitiveness.

What you're left with otherwise are ULFCs Frontier and Spirit, and Valuejet reborn Allegiant (vacation flight operator).

It's just not as competitive as it used to be.

Happened all the time on the old site, especially with connecting itineraries.
