Interesting, snack on same route consisted of the burger (sans condiments, unfortunately).

Iah-sea 3pm

Any idea what the meal service is like on a 3pm IAH-SEA? Lunch is listed, but how many options, etc? The only other IAH-SEA I've done was a dinner flight that had 3 options and the sunday for dessert.

Thanks for the help!

6am SFO-EWR p.s.

Raisin Brain with fruit, waffle with some sauce or quiche. No menus printed.

Took 1:55min for first tray to be delivered (row 3 of the front cabin). 15 min later had the quiche. Was tasty but I just ate a little off the top and then ate what I brought on board.

PHX-IAH lunch today (RPU cleared! call the press!) the two choices were either a chicken salad with pineapple or a reuben sandwich. My salad had fruitn on the side,no soup for me today for either entree. My neighbor had the sandwich and it didn't look very good. Warm nuts in the ramkin was nice.

Oh, on the connecting iah-sat flight on a CR9 in F the flight attendant said "Thank you for being a 1K with us". That's the first time in years I've heard anything close to this and really goes a long way. It's the little things right? Go figure it was Sky West.

I like the new choices

OGG-LAX lunch had chicken katsu w/ curry sauce. I was dreading a soggy breading, but it was a pretty good job. Could've used a little more curry for the rice.

LAX-OGG dinner had Shanghai Noodles w/ dumplings. Not bad at all...

Haven't seen Chicken Cacciatore for almost a year now!

Possibly booking IAH-SLC 9am flight in December.
Scheduled for 3h30m and it says Breakfast in First, so what type of food can I expect?
I can't remember does UA go by status for meal ordering or is it FEBO or front to back now?

Front to back only. That's why I always try to get a seat closest to the front as usually they are out of option 2 by the 2nd or 3rd row.

p.s. EWR-LAX dinner flight menu

START:

Chilled Appetizer
smoked chicken, apple fennel salad

Butternut Squash Salad
spring mix, pumpkin seeds, cranberries,
blue cheese, pickled onions balsamic vinaigrette

MAIN:

Beef Short Rib
bordelaise sauce, roasted parsnips and carrots, goat cheese grits

Turbot
asian barbecue sauce, soy glaze, baby bok choy, pickled turnips, rice

Duck Confit Ravioli
mushroom ragout, semi-dried tomatoes, asparagus

FINISH

Vanilla Bean Gelato
choice of hot fudge, butterscotch caramel
sauce, strawberry sauce, chipped cookies
and cream, whipped cream, cherries

PRE-ARRIVAL

Freshly Baked Cookie
United's signature triple chocolate chunk

Smoked chicken appetizer was good, albeit small.
Salad came with nice little olive oil & balsmaic vinegar bottle
I had the turbot, which was nicely cooked, moist & flaky, very tasty with the
Asian BBQ sauce. ^
Ice cream was good, but missed the chopped nuts and the Grand Marnier
to top it off.

Wines were the usual mediocre kind.

Overall a pretty good dinner, for a domestic route.

Did the flavors of the tripe and chocolate go well together?

I would say that PS menu is an improvement. I wonder if you can ask to have the goat/blue cheese removed on the salad and main courses? Some people aren't into it.

The goat cheese is well mixed in to the grits, so best bet is to choose a different entree. I think the salads come pre-plated with blue cheese, but that is easy enough to pick around if you aren't into it.

This. The goat is one with the grits (which, since I like neither, is not a good combination). The blue cheese is likely already on the salad. On some INTL flights I've watched the crew add toppings in the galley, but for domestic I'm guessing its preplated. You'll be able to work around most of it, but blue is crumbly and a few small pieces will likely be left behind.

PDB of choice

Snack was a caprese sandwich (I think the bun was asiago) and served with chicken tortilla soup. Small chocolate on the tray for dessert.
The soup was very good, but the sandwich was so-so.

A muffin was offered as the pre arrival service, but I declined. So sorry no photos of that. It seemed "baked on board" and offered from a bread basket type of service.
the caprese sandwich UA offered on an LAX-ORD redeye before the merger (ca. 2009) looked much better than this.
