Do you think the NEXUS side could be updated if I took the documents to a global entry station on the US side? I go to Canada about once or twice a year and not sure if nexus is worth it now if I have to make special trips just to update documentation.

Here's the official explanation

How do I update my new passport with Nexus once my card has been issued?
You must update your new passport details by calling in to one of the.Enrollment Centers.

Cannot help you on that one- sorry - I do both GE and Nexus in the same location

You do this on line at the GOES site - I've done it. There is no reason to go in person. NEXUS costs less than GE does without NEXUS. So if you can keep NEXUS, you get GE too and save as well.

I've been told (as I've mentioned about a dozen times by now in this thread, I'm sure) different things by different officers, some say GOES only is ok for passport updates, some say it must be taken to an office because they need a copy, plus GOES is a US system. Personally, I update on the GOES site as soon as I get a new passport, then bring into the office the next time I'm near one.

Curious to anyone who has used the Whirlpool bridge before.. Am I able to add funds from the Canadian side? I found a link on niagarafallsbridges.com that explains how to use it and that you need to visit a toll enrollment kiosk before using it, but doesn't specify if it's on the Canadian or US side (or both).

If you update on GOES and tried to use NEXUS do you think you'd get called for a secondary?

I called seattle NEXUS office and they said just update in GOES.

You'll only need to put the toll into the card before you enter from the US since there is no charge from Canada into the US. That's why it's on the US side. The kiosk is just north of the bridge entrance. After your first toll is paid, you should keep the receipt and use it for the information you need to do it on-line in the future. Whatever currency you use the first time is the only currency you can use after that.

Thanks B1!

Didn't realize there was no charge to enter the US.

Nexus at 5 new Canadian airports

There is a delightfully vague news report here (http://www.680news.com/news/travel/a...g-billy-bishop) that says "5 new Canadian airports to accept Nexus card, including Billy Bishop..... The Nexus program has been expanded to several other airports as well, including St John's, Nfld., Moncton, N.B., Quebec City, Que., and Kelowna, B.C."

But the report only mentions security screening priority. Does anyone have more precise details - will it be available when entering Canada at such airports (or is it already?)

From the press release:

Harper Government Announces Initiatives to Reduce Wait Times at Canadian Airports

TORONTO, Aug. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Minister of State (Transport), announced new initiatives aimed at making air travel more convenient for Canadians travelling from medium sized airports throughout Canada. These screening procedures will enable the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) to reduce wait times for travellers by using practices already established in Canada's larger airports.

NEXUS members flying from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, St. John's, Moncton, Québec City and Kelowna are now able to use their NEXUS cards to access a dedicated entrance allowing them to proceed directly to the front of the screening line resulting in shorter wait times.

[bla bla Harper's Government bla bla]

Initially available at select domestic and international security checkpoints at Canada's eight largest airports, the program was expanded in February 2012 to include flights to the United States. Today's announcement will see five new airports accepting NEXUS cards to expedite security screening.

From the FAQ:

Q. Where is TSA Pre✓™ available?
A. Certain frequent travelers from Delta and American Airlines and certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS, who are U.S. citizens, are eligible to participate in this program,
So if you are a Canadian resident who is an American citizen...

The downside of this program is that at some terminals (AA LAX) there is no longer a fast track lane for elites and F/C/J fliers, just the PreClear. That means we Canadians, even with NEXUS and GE, must line up with the rabble.

For now, it doesn't include Canadians (as noted above). However, part of the expanded Canada-US security agreement signed this Spring calls for it to be expanded to Canadian Nexus/GE holders once it exits the trial phase and is rolled out nation-wide.

Note that Pre Check is only for US domestic flights. If you are flying out of the US it wont work. :(
