If the card is valid should be ok. I assume maybe they are asking cause his/her card has expired.

Even then, Nexus/GOES officers have stated through emails that as long as you applied before it expired you can keep using it until renewal is completed.
You just need to drop your old card off AFTER you receive your new one, to be destroyed |

I misread the original post; I thought it was just conditional approval, not a renewal. I don't generally care to use expired ID when crossing the border, but it seems to be OK based on what others report.
On another note the construction on the Whirlpool Bridge is annoying. |
Hi,

Approved !!
The word "interveiw" is a very scary word, that's something I discovered this week. We arrived at at 8:20 for a 8:30 interview at Champlain, NY enrollment centre and were welcomed right away by a US agent who explained to us how to fill the form explaining all the NEXUS rules from CBP. A Canadian agent then entered our Driver's license and passport info in the computer while the US agent struggled for a good 10 minutes with the copy machine to get a photocopy of our vehicle registration documents. Next, the US agent explained us how to activate our cards using the GOES website once we receive them and also explained how to use the Global Entry kiosks by showing us the video available on the GE website. While he was explaining that another person who was scheduled for 9:00AM arrived and was told to join our group so she can get all the info at the same time. The US agent also went over all the restrictions about what's allowed/prohibited in the NEXUS lane and then took our photos and fingerprints while asking questions to confirm our eligibility, these quesitons are:
That was it for the US "interview". We were then taken behind the counter to the cubicle of the Canadian officer who basically only went over all the procedures regarding the use of NEXUS lane and the different personnal exemptions about what's allowed to be brought back to Canada. We were not asked any personnal questions about how we plan to use NEXUS or anything. After she asked us one last time if we had questions we were told that we could go back to Canada to have our iris photo taken either right now or at a future date. Some important points that were outlined by either the US or Canadian agent:
I find that "interview" is a very heavy term for what it really is. The way they present it sound more like you will be alone in a room with a US and Canadian agent asking you questions and trying to deny you access to the program. Every agent me met on that day looked more than happy to be doing what they were doing and were more than happy to answer all the questions we had. Our cards are now in the mail and we really look forward to the first time we will use them. ================ To answer some question we had about how to show the cards in front of the reader while using NEXUS by car to enter the US you just need to show the cards for 2 seconds or so in front of the reader and assume that it worked. You can show them any way you want event without rolling down your window. The red counter it supposed to show the amount of cards that have been recognized but may often not work properly. the readers are present in all lanes when entering the US. After presenting you cards in front of the reader you go to the booth and give them to the agent and follow any instructions. Going back to Canada you must show the cards fanned out for three seconds as close to the reader as possible (meaning you have to open your window). There is no counter and you just assume that it worked before going to the inspection booth and giving your cards to the agent. You do not need to fill out a TDC every time you can declare your purchases to the agent who will either let you go without charging anything or require that you go inside to pay. |
Is there still a US Nexus office at YVR? It used to be located just behind the row of airline check in counters for US departures.

Thank You.

The NEXUS Information Thread
Used GE at YUL for the first time. It took a total of 10min from the airline checkin desk to the transborder area, including security. Well worth it!

If you get new passport or driver's license do you have to go to a NEXUS office? I know for global entry this is the case.

I "believe" for a passport the answer is Yes. For a DL it varies on the station ... in YYZ they say NO, but I have heard in YUL they say YES... so who knows...
Here's the official explanation How do I update my new passport with Nexus once my card has been issued? You must update your new passport details by calling in to one of the.Enrollment Centers. |
