Well MY first time using nexus card coming back into Canada and i was selected to go to secondary.

Was asked all the quyestions, Were, how long etc. etc.

Then asked why I was using a nexus card, told him because I travel to Las Vegas to see family about every other month. Then I was moved along.

In all it took no longer than 1 min.

Flying back to Canada - Bought more than your exemption? Pay via TDC or Cashier!

So I flew in with stuff that I'd bought over the exemption limit… the Nexus machines give you a choice of either handing in a TDC or Cashier.

First time for me, thought i'd share.

As I didn't bring my TDC booklet with me l chose Cashier, at the baggage claim level by the far wall there is a "Pre-Cash", walked up, handed in my receipts along with my Nexus printout and Customs Declaration and paid by credit card.

Not bad. ^

Anyone have any experience travelling with Nexus card only (no passport)?

My passport is stuck at the Indian consulate for visa processing. I've been told to expect a 2-3 week wait to get it back. Meanwhile, I need to return to Canada next weekend (I'm a Canadian living in the US on H-1B). According to getyouhome.gov, a Nexus card alone is sufficient for air travel, but I'm concerned about potential problems re-entering the US without my passport. Anyone done this?

Travelling with your Nexus card alone is a bad idea:
  • Many airline agents are unfamiliar with NEXUS and will demand a passport (regardless of what the rules say). They can prevent you from checking in or deny you boarding.
  • Since you have an H-1B visa, I believe you must have your I-94 card (which I expect is stapled in your passport) in addition to the NEXUS card should the CBP officer request it. At least that's what I was told when I received my TN status...

You can't travel by air with Nexus alone per airline regs (apparently). Only marine and land crossings are Nexus-only. I thought that there were some airline regs that were specific about passports rather than just any WHTI document. That's why you can't show your nexus card at the counter for their doc check.

Unless that's changed in the last few weeks, which happens..

Iris Scans

Was wondering if anyone had the answer for this one. I've been having a great deal of trouble using the Iris scan. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Almost never works in Toronto.

Anyway, here's my question. I've recently had cataract surgery. Do I need to have another iris scan done?

I remember that being the case last year, but it seems to have changed recently.

From Timatic:

Canada (CA)

Passport Exemptions:

- Nationals of Canada and U.S.A. holding a valid on arrival
NEXUS card, and:
- residing in the U.S.A. or Canada; and
- travelling between Canada and the U.S.A.; and
- travelling at a designated NEXUS airport (for information
on designated Nexus airports, please refer to your
transporting air carrier).
DHS and CBSA both seem to be saying the same thing:
http://getyouhome.gov/html/lang_can/can_at.html
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/whti-ivho...erien-eng.html

To YZF_Flyer's point though, I can imagine getting some hassle from airline agents who aren't familiar with these rules. The re-entry into US is also a major concern. I pulled my I-94 out of my passport before mailing it off, but I have the sense an unsympathetic CBP officer could easily deny me entry.

iris scan has always worked for me… if it doesn't work for you then you might as well get your eyes rescanned…

Nope. Cataract surgery does not change your iris in any way.

[QUOTE=Oceanrider;14040482]I arrived late at YUL yesterday and got to the AA ticket counter at 55 minutes to flight time. I was grateful to get a BP.

After BP scan, the Nexus security setup has you moving in your own que to the right and avoiding the lengthy security line. I had no one ahead of me.

How did you manage to by pass security in YUL? I have been there 6 times since January and it's my biggest security nightmare. Waited 1hr last week and going back next week. When I tried to go to the right, where it says "crew online" I asked about my platinum status, Nexus, they would NOT let me through.

It's a good thing Agents read the output of this differently than you do:
"Information for Canadian Citizens Regarding Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) and Air Travel: Canadian citizens traveling by air to, through or from the United States must present a valid passport or a valid NEXUS card when used at kiosks at participating airports. This requirement applies to all travelers, regardless of age, including children."

The kiosks referred to are not airline related but border-related, such as NEXUS/Canpass machines.

My passport is going in for renewal this week. I've got Nexus.

The Nexus office tells us we merely need to go online to provide the new passport number when we get it, and that we don't have to visit the office.

I travel to the US on an O-1 Visa ("Person of Extraordinary Ability") with a Multiple Entry I-94 that I will restaple into my new visa. Do I need to bypass Nexus first time around to get a new "Admitted stamp" by a human, or do I just continue to use Nexus?
