Has anyone recently updated their passport info due to a renewal (online or in person at office?) Is providing the new passport at the airport Canadian side all you need to do or do you get secondary when going through Preclearance so the US can photocopy as well?

As others have said don't lie. Tell the truth. And I still feel that "in transit" is more eloquent than writing "homeless" or "in rental car" :D

Every NEXUS office has officers for both countries and the information is shared. If you are concerned, ask while you're there. It should typically done with the country of your passport.

How come I still need to fill out a customs declaration form wheni use nexus? Wasn't the whole point to go paperless and just use the receipt from the machine as ur dexlaration??

Nexus Interviews

A little OT from recent posts, but I haven't seen this question answered in the dozens of pages of posts I did read and didn't come up in a search.

Living far from the 49th parallel and only traveling to the US a few times a year, how difficult is it to get a Nexus card? I'm not sure how I'd be able to do the interviews (read somewhere you need to do an interview with officials from both countries?) given that I'm only ever in a US gateway city while in transit somewhere.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm assuming the interviews have to be in person, but maybe I'm wrong on this.

So they can still nail you for false declarations.

Apparently, you're missing the entire point of Nexus. It's got zero to do with being environmentally friendly.

US-bound Pearson T1 machines were working yesterday morning just fine.

Nexus is pre-approval only for immigration purposes, i.e., who you are. The customs declaration form is exactly that -- a customs declaration form, i.e., what you have with you. They are two wholly separate issues.

no, that wasn't the whole point...in fact, it was 0% of the point.

Appt times

Just got the email allowing me to set up an appt. and this is more as info for others awaiting this step. At YYZ the next available appt. is June 17(roughly 5 weeks away), ended up setting up an appt. next week at the Fort Erie location, there were appt's. available for tomorrow and the rest of the week if driving down there is an option.

I connect through YLW and had to add a connection with enough time for the interview at YVR (YYC also does it out west). It was a bit of a hassle because I missed my first interview due to a flight delay, but once you attend it only takes an hour (I did mine yesterday) - the US and Cdn officials sit right next to each other in the office in YVR.

It then takes about 2 weeks for the card to reach you. Make sure you have all your documents with you because you have to show them in person so if you forget anything you have to go back in person.

Good luck!

You'll have to shedule an interview when you are south, there are Nexus offices in YEG, YYC, YVR (and YYZ, YOW, YHZ, YUL, etc). There's no need to actually go to the states for the interview though, will just take some planning if you have a long connection (or make a dedicated trip).

Just keeping checking the website every day. I was able to move my appt up 4 weeks. I was going to go to Fort Erie, then a app came available in 1 week's time in Toronto.
