Here is my son's NEXUS time line.
2015-12-16 - Applied
2015-12-29 - Conditional approval
2016-01-10 - Interview
2016-01-18 - Card received
Not bad.. At the interview, they were surprised someone who was just over a month old was already conditionally approved. The CBP guy was joking that I submitted the application while he was still in the womb.

applied Mon. Jan. 11 9 a.m.
conditional approval Sunday (!) January 24, 9 a.m.
Appointment YYZ Saturday January 30
Card received Feb. 9 (7 business days).
By constantly checking, I managed to move my appointment forward ; you have to keep on it - cancellation openings that come up disappear in minutes.
My wife applied January 11, 9 PM
conditional approval January 26.
Appointment Feb.9
Card received February 19.
So it looks like 13 -15 days for conditional approval.

If I can get an appointment at YYZ, how easy/difficult is it to get from the Int'l arrival terminal to the Nexus area and back to the Transborder terminal? I'm planning a trip to Asia, and am connecting on my way back through YYZ. I have a 4 hour layover before my flight to ORD, and supposedly the Nexus office is open until 8:00pm, but it's in the Departure terminal. Assuming my application goes through and I can get an appointment for that date and time (two big IFs), do you think I could make it the following work?
- Flight from Tokyo (HND) to YYZ arrives at 4:40pm (Air Canada)
- Clear Canadian customs - gently explain that I'll be "in Canada" just to complete a Nexus application and then go back to the US.
- Make it to the Departure terminal.
- Schedule Nexus interview at, say 6:00pm.
- Make it back through the Transborder terminal - Declare my Asia trip items to US customs (I don't expect to be above $800).
- Board flight to ORD at 8:30pm.
Might this work? I'd like to be able to minimize my trips.
BTW, my trip isn't until the end of March.

We did our NEXUS interviews in June in between CDG-YYZ and YYZ-YQR flights (4-hour connection time, but we didn't need all that). We were seen an hour ahead of schedule at the NEXUS office, and all went well.

Great, thanks. I'm still waiting for my application to be approved (hopefully this week) so I can see what dates are available at YYZ.

I'm looking at doing my NEXUS interview at the YVR airport enrollment center in April. I'm planning on flying back to the US the same day, how much time should I give myself between the interview and my flight? I currently have it scheduled for 11:00 AM.

I did this in December. My interview started 10 minutes late. The interview with the U.S. officer took less than 10 minutes as I have Global Entry already. I had to wait for about 10 minutes for the Canadian officer and that interview took about 15 minutes. I scheduled my flight for 2 1/2 hours after the appointment and had plenty of time.

1/24/2016 applied
2/6/2016 conditionally approved
7/8/2016 interview scheduled (Seattle)
The first available appointment was on 8/4 and I have been checking everyday to snag an earlier interview. Pretty happy with the conditional approval time. I listed 8 countries in my travel history and it didn't seem to affect the processing time.

My father's application time (current GE holder expiring in September, renewing as NEXUS rather than GE):
Applied: 1/27
Conditional Approval: 2/8
Interview Scheduled: 7/26 at Vancouver UEC.
Countries listed on application was 30+, nearly all for business. One or two of them were 'interesting' (UAE, Turkey, Kenya), although the reason for visiting were snoozefests; he was on mundane business trips visiting remote sites. He and my mom live in downstate NY... he is close to retirement and as a result his international travel will nearly cease.
However, the cheaper cost of NEXUS and the Canadian border benefit were good enough reasons to apply for NEXUS instead of renewing his existing GE. He is interviewing on his next trip out to the PNW along with my mom, who submitted her app a few days ago.

I submitted my application 13/1 but am not sure whether to expect an email or a response in the post.
Also if there are any others out there with semi-recent paper applications that haven't shared them in the timeline that would be most helpful.
