Correction: You missed your renewal window by 1 day plus 1 year. You can renew up to 364 days prior to expiration. For everyone holding a TTP card, put an entry in your calendars to submit your renewal the day after your birthday one year prior to expiration.

"Pending renewal" state for 12 weeks is completely normal - there are no reports on FT of a "penalty" for renewing late. Rather, since you renewed (even after expiration), benefits of your expired membership continue for several months until you reach 1) approval, or 2) six months past the original expiration date.

My TSA precheck no longer works (since day 1 of expiration. )

That would be expected since the application was submitted after expiration, and thus your situation is a different thing than for those submitting an application when already a GE member and able to still use GE at US ports of entry.

I am seeing PreCheck come up consistently for those who submit an application for GE renewal before the expiration date (as printed on GE card for those with GE cards) and have conditionally approved status for the renewal application continue even months after the expiration date.

If your GE application were submitted and placed into conditionally approved status before your GE membership expiration date, then PreCheck may have still been a consistent outcome for you too during the waiting period in pursuit of final approval for a GE application.

I submitted my renewal the 1st week of April, it's had the brown PENDING REVIEW bar and then the green checks on the side stop at the hourglass with waiting for conditional approval.
My current GE expires the first week of July and I am going to be arriving from Europe 10 days after it expires. If the don't renew it before I arrive back in SFO I assume they'll just treat it as an expired GE and I have to use the normal passport lines?
Between now and then renewal I've had no legal/criminal issues and if anything I have got an FAA license which I think may have had a back ground check, not sure if that matters so I am assuming anything is just a backlog.

I saw on the site they mention because of the backlog: "Conditionally approved GE members should seek to complete their GE interviews without an appointment upon arrival from an international flight at any of the 49 airports participating in CBP's Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) program."

I would assume that is just for people who literally have an interview requested and not something like this?

We’re also in the “pending review” holding pattern though we only submitted our renewals at the end of May so just 30 days for us. As far as we can tell there shouldn’t be anything holding up our renewals other than the backlog of applications though those few reporting renewal approvals in literally days is interesting. Nothing significant has changed and neither of us has gotten even in parking ticket in the four plus years since our first application.

Luckily after reading this thread we decided to submit our renewals early rather than wait to close to our February and March 2020 expiration dates so we have plenty of time to get through the process. I’ve also read here that submitting a renewal and getting to the “pending review” stage buys you an additional six months past your expiration date so technically we should be good to go up to August and September 2020. Of course I will reach the “panic stage” if our renewals haven’t been processed well before then.

As for using the interview on arrival I can’t see that being of much good until or unless your renewal request has been moved to the schedule interview appointment stage. I would assume CBP would just tell you that you’re pending conditional approval.

As you applied for renewal before your current authorisation expired you get a 6 month extension so can still use the GE lines on your return from Europe (bring a hat it's hot over most of it at the moment!)

Correct - you can only do the interview on arrival once you have reached the conditional approval stage. Also not everyone who gets a renewal needs an interview.

There may be less than a six month extension to use GE if the result of the pending renewal application comes in earlier with a rejection, rare as that is.

Pending review status on a renewal application means that the CBP won’t be moving to finalize anything with regard to membership renewal until the applicant is out of the pending review status. Have to wait either for the conditional approval or for the final approval without interview. [Or, very rarely, the rejection, upon which the person will no longer be able to use GE even if it’s less than six months from the expiration date on their GE card.]

I applied April 18th for renewal. Still pending and mine expires July 17. I see that I should get a 6mo extension of GE as long as I applied for renewal prior to expiration. Does this include precheck?

Yes, it includes PreCheck for the (six-months) post-expiration-date period during which you remain eligible to use GE too.

Just received conditional approval after a three month wait!- applied for renewal last week in March 2019.

Unfortunately, I have to schedule an interview to complete the process. My home airport, BNA, has no availability at all. Period. That seems very strange. Has that center closed?

Fortunately, I was able to schedule a convenient time at DTW that corresponds to an upcoming trip.

Applied 3/28 - approved today (7/1) without interview. Total wait time was 95 days. They sent a "status change" email, and then when you login, you get an approval notification.

Completely clean record, first time renewal, but I've travelled a LOT, and also lived overseas (London) for 2 years in the last 5.

Good to hear! I'm currently living in London for the past two years. Been to China 3x this year. Singapore, Thailand, Kazakhstan, UAE, France, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Israel, and Czech Republic. Hopefully I have no issues, however I always have SSS on my boarding pass when coming back to visit America. Fingers crossed.

Looks like they're finally getting caught up. I applied on Monday or Tuesday of last week, and got approved (no interview) by Saturday.

FWIW, my approval office was JFK. It's listed on your notification (and I think is usually the major airport near where you live). I believe different offices have different backlogs.
