Wait time for renewal
applied for renewal 3/22 still listed as pending as of today 6/1 I moved, started a fed job, and have traveled to most of the continents in the last 5 years, and have worries I may have left a country or two out (all of which are probably making things fun for my reviewer). Will update when I hear back. |
After some initial “we’re in no hurry to renew” we decided this morning (Sunday, 2 June) to pull the trigger and renew. Technically we were both good until February/March of next year. Actually had a bit of catch up to do on our countries visited since 2014. The thing that gives us pause about whether or not we’ll have to go to an interview is our travel, via a cruise, that stopped in Egypt, Jordan, Oman, and the UAE. I remember from our first interview all the agent said when he saw the list of countries visited was that we must cruise a lot as most countries listed were in the Caribbean. He said something along the lines that since we were on a ship and really didn’t stay on the various islands it wasn’t like we stayed there but safer to list and let CBP sort out the potential impact. Egypt and UAE might be a little different this time around because we did stay overnight on land in both countries. We’ll see how it goes. |

If you haven't already done so, you may want to review the Global Entry Application Countries Visited [consolidated thread]. |

My wife and I both visited Qatar, Jordan, Oman and the UAE. All of our international travel was identical. She did not have to go to a renewal interview, but I did. YMMV situation.

Thanks for sharing. Push come to shove it would be easier for me to get selected for an interview than my wife. She works full time and has little free time to run off to an interview. Being semi-retired the little work I get nowadays can be done on the computer so I have plenty of free time to shuffle off to the airport for an interview. Interesting that with identical travel one gets interviewed and other not. Maybe there’s some kind of random selection process whereas they’ll interview X number but Y number get renewed without an interview. |

I have two theories about our situation. Hypothesis 1 is that different staffers evaluated each of our renewal applications and used different decision rules. Hypothesis 2 is that I reported a change of job status (retired/semi-retired.) During my interview, the CPB officer asked me if I travel to the Middle East for work. I told her that I wished I did! :)

My wife and I just applied for renewal a little over a week ago. From what people are reporting, it’s not clear who gets renewed quickly and who has to wait months for an interview. Some questions- 1. For those who do get an email, who is the sender and what is the title? It’ll help us sift through the junk and search better. 2. My wife’s GE expires on 7/20/20. We applied for renewal on 5/25. Since some wait more than 2 months, what will happen if we don’t hear by 7/20? The renewal application will automatically convert to a new application? 3. My wife has been a stay at home mine since our baby was born 15 months ago. In her renewal app, we put “not employed” for this period. I’m wondering now if that might be considered “high risk”. Should we have our SAHM? Thanks |

If you submit a renewal application before expiration of your current membership, then you can continue to use your benefits until the renewal is finalized (up to 6 months after your expiration date). |
Applied for renewal on 5/26/19, approved on 5/30/19. One of the fastest renewals?

Both myself and husband applied on Mar 14 - my approval was within 10 days - however, its now been over 11 weeks and his remains pending...at what point do we escalate? He still has plenty of time left before expiration - I'm just tired of keeping up with it...how many people have gone past the 11 week mark...
