Why would such a person be conditionally approved for renewal? They don't perform the background check at the interview.
They apparently wanted to ensure the conviction was attributable to him and give him a chance to explain it. |

You've said this several times now, but without posting any examples. Who would be an example of someone who is allowed to hold G.E. until expiration but then gets rejected upon renewal?
Conditional approval to proceed to the interview step is not a guarantee for the interview to result in final approval. |

Folks,
The subject of whether some Global Entry renewal applications are denied after receiving conditional approval has been exhausted. Please stop the bickering and move on. Posts have been deleted. TWA884 Travel Safety/Security co-moderator |
I'm renewing my GE for the first time and in the "Identifying Characteristics" section I was surprised to see my eye color as "bluish green." It's not how I would describe them (they're really not green at all) and I'm wondering if my interviewer input that? I can edit it and choose "blue" but I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone if it hasn't caused any issues in the last five years. Seems like changing a physical characteristic might trigger an interview that might otherwise be avoided. Thoughts?

I received my GE in May 2014; I started renewal sometime in February or March, I can't recall and don't have an email, though my application says "Pending review". I also can't find a charge on any of my credit cards. Is there any way to figure out when I applied? When are credit cards charged the entry fee?

You have to click on View Payment History to expand the section. |

Immediately. There is a section to the right (View Your Info > View Payment History) that will show if/when you were charged.

I just got approved without interview. Applied on 2/11; Approved on 4/23. 2nd renewal.
It looks that they are clearing up the backlog from early February. 2nd renewal here, as well. There seems to be a February "glut" for people whose applications trigger some additional scrutiny. |
More data points - I live in Atlanta - so that's where the approval was done. Trying to do a postmortem on why it took so long.
I think that since (a) they're naturally slow A.F. (under the best circumstances), (b) everyone from the southeast - AND international folks who "live" in Atlanta or near Atlanta or do overflow from other regions, and (importantly) (c) the re-allocation of CBP resources to the southern border wall [1] - those are all factors for the delay. So the shutdown - which is what is highlighted in red on the site - is only a small part of it. [1] https://www.ajc.com/business/long-cu...TclglPmPfW7lL/ |

My husband applied for renewal on 3/16 and still pending. Today marks 11 weeks exactly so hoping it will come through soon!

Do you mean 2/16? Where are you located? |
I am currently in the same February "batch" - applied for first renewal on 2/20, hoping it comes through soon :(
|
Just a follow up that I applied on 2/20 for first renewal, and was approved (no interview) sometime this morning (5/3) so right around the 10.5 week mark.

Kind of our thinking. At this point we have no plans to travel outside the US for the next couple of years. Mrs K starts a 2-year post graduate study next month and our travel time and opportunities are going to be limited. |
