Is there any general consensus about what these interviews are really for <redacted by moderator>?
They asked me about "were you sponsored by a foreign state" - some questions are more severe than SF85P/SF86 (sensitive and TS), but others are kind of dopey and asked by people who aren't IC. End of the day - they ask questions to "keep our borders safe." That is all. |
My husband is at 64 days waiting on conditional approval for his renewal....still waiting. He applied on 3/16.

Glad this thread is here. I submitted my renewal a few weeks ago and was getting concerned. Now I know that it is a long wait. Birthday in October so I have plenty of time. |
Still waiting ...
Applied/paid: 3/6/19
Status: Pending US Cit, natural born Coming up on three months waiting time soon. Shouldn't be anything unusual in my record. And this is just a renewal. |

A recent question about what appears to be a first time application for Global Entry, as opposed to an application for Global Entry renewal, which is the topic of this thread, was moved to the relevant thread:

Wow. Reading all these posts, I'm feeling super lucky. I applied for renewal about 2 weeks ago. The very next thing I heard about it was 12 days later, when my new card arrived in the mail. I was shocked how fast it was (and a little confused, because the letter didn't even say anything about being approved. It just said "here's your new card"). I checked online, and it turns out I was approved 7 days after applying. 7 days for approval, 5 more for card creation and shipping. Not bad.

I read in an earlier post that particular algorithms may account for delays. In two days my application will be at 11 weeks. I plan to call and ask them to open a ticket to find out what possibly could be causing this delay. I was approved the 1st time in 3 weeks.
Since I do not travel internationally as frequently as I used to, I decided to apply for PreCheck which is more compatible with my current travel planning. If GE is not a deal breaker for you, get PreCheck and use Mobile Passport. At this point, if I get approved- great; if I don't it's not the end of the world. You can have two KTN numbers- discovered that the GE KTN # does not work on the PreCheck website so I applied as a new applicant and have an interview in 2 weeks. By the way, the TSA customer service telephone staff are very helpful Finally- received approval today- 10 weeks and 6 day wait |

My timeline for renewing an expired GE.
March 6 - renewal submitted May 22 - approved for renewal without interview Although I gained a year by applying after expiration, it wasn't worth all the TSA PRE lines I missed. If you have a crystal ball for travel plans, act accordingly. |
I also applied for renewal on March 6 and was approved at the end of the day on May 21st
No interview requested No one knows why some renewals are processed quickly and others seem to drag on. Glad I didn't need to expedite the matter |
Applied for renewal around 4/20. wife applied a week later. Went on vacation at the end of the month. New cards in our mail pile when we returned on May 19. Obviously no interview was needed. We didn't receive any emails during the process either.

Applied for renewal March 12. Got SSSS coming back from Namibia a 6 weeks later. Still no updates as of May 27, 2019. There’s nothing I’ve ever done that should raise flags. |
