Still waiting

If you can call very early in the day there is a good chance your phone wait will not be long. Have your application ID# and your current Global Entry TT# handy.

In our case, my husband was approved in 7 days, for me it took 10 weeks and 6 days- we have identical travel histories. We also did not have to re-interview.

We applied for renewal two days apart at the end of May 2019. My husband was approved in 2-3 days, and has received his card. I'm still waiting. Luckily, my TT does not expire till September 30th.
I am encouraged by other people's experiences. I thought I was being paranoid. We also have identical travel histories.

My renewal was approved in about a week. Saw the approval yesterday. Maybe it has to do with my having had multiple DOD clearances and Concealed Carry permit for years. I've been background checked from here to Sunday and I've never traveled to any 3rd world, or even 2nd world countries. My previous GE card was long expired, too.

My wife and I were in the same boat. She was approved after a couple weeks and mine took 90 days as mentioned previously. I will say, however, my record isn't quite as 'clean' as hers.

Wife and I applied the same day three weeks ago within 15-20 minutes of each other. Neither of us has gotten approved yet. She’s got all the DoD security clearances and a squeaky clear record but that apparently hasn’t helped so far. What I think may be the issue is that we visited Egypt, Jordan, Oman, and UAE in 2017. We were on a cruise but all you can say is that we visited those countries so that might be holding approvals up. I don’t see that as a potential issue in the long run as nothing else has happened or changed since our initial interviews four plus years ago. We pulled the renewal trigger several months out so not concerned but would like to get it over with.

Trusted Travelers website says there’s going to be delays in approvals on their end. But it sounds like some people are still getting approved promptly.

I too see their notice but then again the government close down was relatively short and months ago so I’m having a bit of trouble seeing that as a major contributor now. What’s more interesting are the reports of mere days to get a renewal approved versus what seems to be more or less a 90-day average. Again not particularly concerned at this point as we still have 7-8 months eligibility left on our existing GE enrollment and supposedly that would get extended as long as we’ve applied for renewal. Obviously my concern would go up significantly if we don’t get at least conditional approval in the next 90 days. Just odd and curious the apparent variances in renewal times.

Applied renewal since April 7. Has been over 78 days and still pending. With recent datapoints of March 20 applications getting approved hopefully I should be getting results in 2 weeks time!

Question I am hoping someone can help with. Like an idiot I let my global entry lapse back in March. I applied for a "renewal" on 3/26 (two days after expiration and the option that was available on the website). Application and fee immediately accepted but now I am now going on over 90 days of being stuck waiting for conditional approval...

I'm beginning to worry that by "renewing" after expiration vs. trying to apply like a first timer I could be stuck never receiving an approval given how screwed the system is. Has anyone done anything similar and able to confirm I took the right approach?

Thanks!

There are several posts upthread by members who submitted renewal application after the expiration date.

Here are a couple of recent reports:

Although I gained a year by applying after expiration, it wasn't worth all the TSA PRE lines I missed. If you have a crystal ball for travel plans, act accordingly.

I applied on March 28 so exactly at 90 days now. It seems like the queue is getting longer and longer, so going to wait a little while longer before escalating (I have 8 months till expiration - I wonder if they de prioritize because of that).

Since you submitted the renewal application before expiration of your current membership, you will continue receive Global Entry benefits until your renewal is finalized for up to 6 months after the current expiration date; that is a total of fourteen months from now.

A few family members had to renew their GE applications so they did it on the same day (3/31). One of them got approved without having to go for an interview after a week. However, two of them have been in "Pending" status since then...

Your hypothesis is not the reason for your fast-renewal.
Those of us with CC and DoD (or 85P or 86) have actually experienced *greater* wait times.

Just based on the recent posts:
It appears that the government shutdown caused the delays of ~10-11 weeks (myself included).
That was sorted, but the reallocation of resources (officers) to the southern border has now caused an even greater delay (13+ weeks).
CBP in YYZ (and GE folks in JFK) told me as much - they're running super thin.

Missed Renewal by One Day - Painful

Missed my renewal date by 1 day (totally my fault) and am now on my 12th week of "pending review" state. Born & raised same county and no big changes since original approval, not even an address change. Hard lesson learned.
