Global Entry Issue

My Global Entry expired while I was in Europe. Needless to say I lost TSA PreCheck on my return. I accessed the website to renew my GE and the system will not recognize my membership number; it’s only been a couple of weeks since it expired . I tried calling the number several times (877-227-5511) the last time, the same recording came on and said there was a 30 minute waiting period, it gave updates coming down to 28 minutes; 40 minutes later it was still 28 minutes, I got tired of waiting and hung up. I can’t figure why my program membership number is not recognized and not being able to talk to a live person leaves me unable to get my card renewed. Any suggestions on email or other numbers I can call to get through ? Will I have to make a new application and have the interview all over again as a last resort ? I live 175 miles away from the closest enrollment center, so not a very desirable option.

Perhaps this is your issue: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/show...errerid=22732?

In the future, mark your calendar to renew 364 days before expiration date.

Update: 107 days from application to conditional approval, yay! :)

Disappointing that I have to complete yet another interview (this is probably my 3rd or 4th renewal, with interviews every time) but the timing of the notification could not be much better as I am flying back to the USA in a day and won't be able to use the kiosk so happy to do EOA. Of course the website still shows zero interview slots for California for the next 365 days :(

2nd update: Endured a 1-hr wait today for the EOA at SFO. Could not really discern what triggered the interview except for a couple of questions about the countries I recently visited and of course the standard questions regarding convictions. Kind of depressing to see the entire lengthy queue of non-GE passengers clear 2x while I was waiting for the interview. It feels like EOA customers are being punished at SFO.

I hold a Singaporean passport. I renewed my global entry online since oct last year and it’s still pending approval. Not sure what’s happening at this point, does anyone have any advise on what I can do?

Just my datapoint:

My Global Entry expired in October 2021, didn't renew because couldn't travel cause covid, and didn't have a card at the time that would comp me for the $100 fee.

Flashforward to June 2022. Have a card that would comp me for the $100 global entry fee, so I applied for a renewal despite my original Global Entry expiring in October 2021. Was approved for renewal without an interview June 2022, my Global Entry shows expiration of October 2027 now, so that's nice. No need to reinterview and global entry is ready for me for when I get back from Europe in August.

Not sure if I need the card that comes with Global Entry or if I'll even receive it in time when I fly out in late June, but if it does arrive I guess I'll pack it with the passport. Otherwise, I intend on going through the TSA Precheck line at the airport now that my Global Entry has been renewed.

Your new Global Entry card will arrive 7-10 days from final approval. Do not forget to activate it.

The card is needed only in limited circumstances. Please refer to the following thread:

I got my global entry renewal done when I am traveling abroad, and will be traveling for the next few weeks. My new card looks like was delivered to my mailbox while we are away. Is there any issue with not activating the new card for some amount of time (I mean, is there any requirement to activate the card as soon as it is received?)? Thx!

radiolarian I'm in the same boat, Is you application still pending?

Global Entry renewal just approved! No interview required. I submitted the renewal in early January (2022). No other profile changes except for a new job.

Guess a new card will automatically show up in the mail?

The only reason you'd need to active it soon would be if you are arriving by land in the near future. Otherwise, it can easily wait.

I just renewed last week. What is the current average waiting time for renewal? Should I assume that GE will be valid until my renewal is fully processed?

Previously, I had read that they were giving a certain amount of time for extensions but now that’s not stated on the GE site. That’s why I’m guessing it’s unlimited

However the wiki states you could be approved and as little as a few days or about six months. It also says the extension is granted for just 18 months. I don’t know how accurate that information is

It is my impression that you do not need to replace the old card with a new one. The expiration is in the system, and that is tied to your passport. For backup I did print out the new expiration, just in case, but I doubt I will need to show the card to anyone.

Since you renewed before expiration date, your Global Entry is valid two years from expiration date.

Once approved it is good for 5 years from the original expiration.
