Unfortunately, Mrs. Swede starts traveling for work in May, and I'm not holding out hope for a quick renewal. I'm probably just hoping for conditional approval when we travel internationally this summer and do EoA.

Welp. I submitted the renewal application for both of them on 4/2 in the late evening. I log in today, and both have full approval through 2027. :tu:

Wife got notice on April 1 she had been renewed without a new interview, all of our international travel was identical, not sure why hers took 3-1/2 months and mine only took 2 days, but we renewed plenty early so it was never a real concern.

Submitted my renewal on 3/26 and I have a clean record and still pending and someone else I know with a criminal record (disorderly conduct from 30 or 35 years ago) submitted their renewal on 3/28 and go approved 3/31 with no interview.

Wonder why mine hasn't been approved yet since I applied a couple days earlier than him and have no criminal record and he got approved already. Seems like if someone has a criminal record it would take them longer to review

Not a huge deal since I have a two year grace period but I have a couple international trips this summer and if I have to reinterview would like to do it upon arrival in the US on one of those trips.

Give yourself 3.5 months for approval or conditional approval, as this is the current timeline for these pending approvals nowadays.

My understanding is just luck determines if you need a interview or not. Random selection for some that do or don't.. As I posted earlier I applied six months before by NEXUS expired but the 2 year or so extension ran out and still was unable to get interview (all slots not available) so I had to redo from scratch and pay another $50 fee...and wait.... The only info I had to update on my reapplication was a trip to Germany in 2019. I was able to use it at YYZ in Sept 2021 when still on extended time period that now has not been extended again.

German citizen here living in the UK

First time renewal

Applied on the 21st of April and went to border police at FRA April 23rd; full approval came through on May 7th so overall approx. two weeks. Positively surprised.

Is the two year grace period two years from when your GE expires or two years from the date you renewed. My GE expires in March 2023 and I renewed March of 2022 so will my GE be good through March 2024 or March 2025?

Data point on mine. Renewal app submitted Sunday night (April 10). Just got email saying there was a change in status (do like 445am central time April 12). Logged in and it said I was approved. No interview necessary.

First GE renewal. US LPR.
Submitted renewal on 4th January, currently pending review. For the initial application 4 years back I was conditionally approved in 3 or 4 days; hoping it stays the same this time also.

It's been more than 3 months now pending review of my renewal. Still pending. Waiting..

Hi all, question on renewal. My current GE expires Jan 2023 so I have some time, but wanted to get an early start before I forget about it! I am on the website and one of the first questions is "*Do you plan on flying internationally into the U.S. within the next 6 months?" with a note that if the answer is yes, you are encouraged to instead use Enrollment on Arrival. This seems like the question is more targeted towards people who don't currently have GE.

I do plan to travel outside of the US in the next couple months if all goes well. Should I just say Yes, and proceed with the online application? Or choose No and proceed? My current GE will still work regardless of the application status for the renewal, correct?

i marked no on mine, as mine was about 11 months from it being expired so my thought process was 6 months from now my current one will still be valid anyways.

renewal / expiration timing for possible 'extra' year of enrolment?

I'm wondering, is there any reason to renew early rather than wait until the day before expiry to submit for renewal? It seems like, by waiting, there's a possibility of tacking on an extra year to the renewed enrolment duration.

A more expansive discription of my thinking—

From this statement in the wiki,

You can proactively initiate the renewal process before you get your expiration notification from DHS, which seem to be going out to your email address of record a few months prior to expiry.

You may reapply for Global Entry renewal as early as one year prior to your membership expiration date; your new GE expiration date will be five years from your next birthday.

The amount of time for approval of applications varies from as little as 1-2 days to as long as several months. The reason for this is unclear. Please be patient. If you renew before expiration, your GE benefits will continue until your renewal is approved/rejected, for up to 18 months after expiration.
I am given to understand that it's best if the renewal is still pending when the expiration date (birthday) passes.

In the scenario below, do I have the timing and sequencing for renewal correct?

Assume my birthday is 2 Aug, and my GE expires 2 Aug of this year (2022).

If I apply today (18 Apr 2022) to renew, I might have my GE enrolment approved as soon as today or tomorrow, and my new GE expiry would be 2 Aug 2027.

If I apply 1 Aug 2022 to renew, my GE enrolment might be approved that day, and my new GE expiry might be 2 Aug 2027. Or it might be approved many days later, but I would continue to receive benefits while renewal is pending for 24 months (per CBP <https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/faq , "How do I renew ...">;) or 18 months (per wiki), and then if/when approved my new expiry would then be 2 Aug 2028 (or maybe even 2029).

So is there any reason not to wait until the day before expiry to submit for renewal? Aside from potential risk of forgetting to do so or being somehow indisposed on the day, of course.
