I am seeing different availability reported in the Mac app than via Mobile:
[KVS Availability Tool 7.3.4/Diamond - Availability/FS/US] Code:
SFO San Francisco Intl CA US [KSFO]"F1 A1 J5 C4 D3 R2 I2 W3 E1 T1 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G9" http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/268/9hfu.png Do both tools query the same source? Thanks! |
Availability / Fare cannot change POS
Hi, I hope someone can help me on this:
I am searching with Fares and Availability using Availability/FS and Fares /PSH (Fares/FC is not in the list) and I cannot change the POS. It is set to US for availability and RU for fares with a greyed out box, I cannot change that. Especially on the fare search thatīs a limitation as I suspect the POS RU has quite a few restriction that donīt apply to the one I need to look at (CH or IT). Thanks for an hints on how to get this to work! |

The equivalent flight on mobile.kvstool.com shows as: Do both tools query the same source? http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Factors |
Apologies if this has probably been covered before. Just purchased the KVS tool the other day to make it easier to check for BA Club World Redemption seats on two flights I'm booked WT+ currently in so I can try and upgrade.
Am I correct in saying when (if any) seats become available they will show up when I search for seating availability as booking class U? Currently when searching for each flight that booking class doesn't show up at all, not even as U0. Is this normal? Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability --------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- BA 284 SFO 16:40 LHR 11:00 744 F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 R9 I0 W9 E9 T4 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 Does the KVS tool have some sort of alert system to let me know if any seats appear? |

Currently when searching for each flight that booking class doesn't show up at all, not even as U0. Is this normal? BA told me, and I've confirmed with the KVS tool that on each flight only a couple of CW seats have been booked so there is a good chance some redemption seats will appear and I don't want to miss them. Does the KVS tool have some sort of alert system to let me know if any seats appear? Then put in your flights and see what comes up. For CW availability you are looking for the CS result where the number after CS tells you how many seats are presently available. |

You need to use the Awards/Upgrades tab not the availability tab to search for available redemption seats. I find it best to use the Awards/JL-OneWorld in the Method drop down and then set BA British Airways in the Airline drop down.

Saying that it was a simple flight I put in, SFO>LHR so I guess the second part doesn't apply here. But still leaves a little doubt in my mind that I've made a mistake when doing the search and could miss the chance. |

Just tried that but seems I need a JL membership. Am I fine to just use the BA-OneWorld method instead?

I prefer the JL method because it shows you all the seats available or 0 if there are none available. This avoids the 'no seats/route too complex' message. Suggest you sign up for a free JL account. Costs nothing and lets you use the JL method.

But one thing to keep in mind: Make sure you search segment-by-segment to avoid misapplied "married segments" logic and the like. The KVS User Guide/FAQ warns of this problem in general and gives a specific reminder for the [Awards/OneWorld] (aka Qantas) engine. It is longstanding, sage advice. I haven't seen this problem on the JL engine before, but apparently it exists because I ran into it while researching a SGN-HKG-JFK trip for 2 on CX. A simple SGN-NYC search showed a single J seat, while SGN-HKG showed 4 and HKG-JFK showed 2. When I called to book today, the AA agent had the same problem until I asked nicely if she could check the SGN-HKG segment on its own. Seats were found, the trip was booked, and everyone learned something new. |

If you are redeeming Avios, you may want to stick to the [Awards/BA-OneWorld] engine since it tracks seats available for Avios redemption. Well, at least in theory.

st1575 I didn't think there was a different in availability between the BA-Oneworld and JL-Oneworld methods for Avios redemptions. Can you expand on this please?
Taking the example of my CX redemption for early January 2015, the BA engine wasn't showing the same HKG-EWR (the new flight) J availability as the JL engine at one point, along the lines of 2 vs. 3. I re-verified using the CX engine, which seemed to confirmed JL's number. The HKG-JFK numbers were the same. |

They might be the same for BA flights, but not always for other carriers.

Has anyone use KVS or have a know the specific fare code that Amex Platinum uses for their free companion program for first/business class?
