Currently getting an error on the AC-StarAlliance award search. No matter which airports I put in I'm getting an error message:

Datasource Error [RW]:
The city/airport entered cannot be found

Have been using it successfully all morning and it just started to error out.

Make sure you are running the latest version (V7.3.4), clear MSIE Cookies (http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Clear) and restart the KVS Tool.

If the issue persists, please provide a screenshot via http://Contact.KVSTool.com/

Any chance for an iPad app or a full web version? I don't travel with a laptop.

The KVS Tool Mobile Companion is available for iPad:
http://www.KVSTool.com/Mobile-Companion-Info.php

However, the main KVS Tool application requires a proper desktop/laptop/netbook to run on (PC or Mac).

Checked availability of a UA flight, but KVS's result seems inconsistent with UA's expert mode result, which one to trust?

yokozuma Feb 23, 2014 4:13 am

For award availability can KVS send out notifications when seats become available?

Haven't used it before so thought I'd check before I sign up.

That scenario would be technically impossible -- could you please provide a screenshot?

Trying to find a way home from IST, and a route mapper suggested IST-ZRH-YUL-CLE.

I see no FS/CS awards available:

[KVS Availability Tool 7.3.3/Diamond - Awards/StarAlliance/JP-ANA-STD]

ZRH Zurich CH [LSZH]
YUL Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau/Dorval QC CA [CYUL]

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Availability
--------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- -------------
LX 86 ZRH 12:50 YUL 15:05 333 0 FS- CS- YS-
While looking at another route, I see the same exact flight (LX86) with CS award open. Why am I getting different results on the same segment when using a different route?

They are most likely what are called "paired" flights and happens when a carrier will make seats available (on the ZRH-YUL) flight for passengers connecting from a more distant and higher fare point (TLV).

As mentioned in the KVS Tool User Guide at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Factors:
Note: Segment Marriage Logic is generally intended to apply to Regular Availability only. However, occasionally, it can get [mis-]applied to Award/Upgrade Availability as well, due to a human or system error. If you run across a case of Married Segments when searching for Award/Upgrade Availability, check Availability segment-by-segment to determine the actual Award/Upgrade Availability for each flight.

So just to clarify:

For AAA-BBB-CCC, if there is only availability on AAA-BBB but not BBB-CCC, on UA if I search AAA-CCC it will show no availability for both segments.
If I search AAA-CCC in KVS, does it do every possible segment separately? or does it just search AAA-CCC on UA?

Also, when I search a flight on UA website, I notice that sometimes it does not display every possible routing, I must do a multi-city search manually. Will KVS check every possible routing?

Yes, that is the current logic that the [Awards-Upgrades/UA] Engine uses.

The search will be performed exactly as requested by the user.

There could be many thousands of potential routings and no website will check or display them all.

Each Engine has its own route construction logic.

Just to make sure, I am using a MacBook air running OS 10.9.1. The primary reason I want KVS is for access to the various Delta award buckets. It seems this is not possible with CrossOver? Would the other free emulators or virtual Windows apps work for my use?

Yes, you can use any of the other solutions (Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox):
