Hi, long time fan, first time poster...
Probably FlightStats: http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...tyByRouteEx.do Since this is apparently free to all, it would have been a good canidate to keep the Lite version going, oh well. The FlightStats tool is a nice one. Thanks for sharing and welcome to FlyerTalk! |
You may want to change BEY from Beirut Int'l to Beirut Rafic Hariri Int'l, it changed 5 years ago...

I have a diamond membership and the award search for Amadeus/Oneworld has been returning no results for some time and the CX award search gives me a data source error. I have checked all the Asia miles and QF ff numbers and pins and was able to log in with them on their respective sites. Any idea what the problem is? KVST is currently unusable on all the award searches save the Star Alliance one (which works fine). Your help is much appreciated.

Amadeus/Oneworld is working fine for me
(tried a few Australian domestic flights and few international flights) |

Unfortunately, after 6+ years of service [2004-2010], the last remaining Lite-tier availability data source recently got decommissioned. Gold is now the new 'base' level in the KVS Tool.
Hi KVC It would really nice if you would let people try your KVC gold platinum, etc…for 60 day or so free so we can have a better idea which level to go with. Just an idea |

Just an idea If you want just flight availability, go for Gold. If you want award availability, go for Platinum. If you're a hardcore road warrior who book complex awards and itineraries, or a hardcore mileage runner, then you want the Diammond version for maximum permitted mileage, easy building of itineraries through ITA based on specific fares, routing rules, and round-the-world fares. If you're looking to save money, most of the information you can get using KVS for a fee you can get online for free. You just need to know where to get it, of course KVS makes it much easier and time-efficient. And you can do simultaneous queries using multiple copies of the tool which is great for efficiently searching awards of flight options during irrops. Though perhaps if you're seriosu you might reach out to KVS to arrange a free trial of a specific level, though my feedback for you would be not to request 60 days, that seems a bit unreasonable, a week perhaps? Expertflyer offers 5 days.. |

The value of KVS Tool is that you have all the information available in one place, in one familiar format. While the interface is sometimes hard to use, it still beats having to scout the web, and then interpret, the information separately. Sometimes we are caught up in a few dollars and forgot that most of our trips in planning are hundreds to thousands of dollars each. As a very rough observation, if you plan more than 5 trips in a year, KVS Tool is easily worth multiple of the small fee. On the other hand, if you don't plan more than 5 trips a year, then you don't need to spend time on specialized tools such as KVS Tool. As gleff said, get a 2 months subscription and try it out. If it turns out to be not useful to your usual way of planning, then you are only out a few dollars. |
Did I mention that a Mac version would be nice? :) - Usually, the only reason I run Parallels on my Mac (which slows down the computer quite a bit...) is the KVS tool...

Admittedly, I have not read all 81 pages (in my settings) of this thread, so this might have been discussed before, but one feature request I would have that I would really like would be sort of an auto-update function (with confirmation) so that one would not have to manually go through all stages of the download/install process for every update.

Just been playing around looking at RTW fares using the Fares/DOT Res method
For both *A and OW airlines, the method fails for From: = LHR or CDG (or LON or PAR), but works for EDI and NCE  |

Indeed, both Methods continue to function normally, e.g.:
[KVS Availability Tool 5.7.1/Diamond - Amadeus: Awards/OneWorld/AU-QFA-SP1] Code:

I just performed the exact search again. Updated the tool to 5.7.1, used the route and dates you did, and it still comes up zero on the search. To be safe, I tried it again with antivirus and firewall disabled, but that didn't help either. Same result...any ideas?
I did the same search and it worked fine for me. Must be something local to you. I'm in HKG at the moment. |
