If I want to upgrade my membership from Gold to Platinum, and I follow the steps on the screen, how will I be charged? Will there be an adjustment from the Gold membership fee, i.e. only $25 additional charged? Or do I pay the entire Platinum fee and my membership is now upgraded to Platinum for an additional year (my initial membership was started 4/11/2010) until 4/11/2012? It is a bit unclear on the explanations dropdown and I think that is how I am reading it.
Thanks in advance.

We did discover it appears on the US website a little more than 24 hrs before check-in. Not there at this time, but we've been following each day's flight and expect it to show up later today.

This appears to be a system issue between US and Amadeus. 7C is, in fact, allocated, as per the info from a different GDS.

You currently have 11M remaining at the Gold level, which is equivalent to 6.4M of Platinum. Therefore, you can choose from the available upgrade options as follows:

  • 12M/Platinum: 6.4M + 12M = 18.4M Platinum
  • 6M/Platinum: 6.4M + 6M = 12.4M Platinum
  • 2M/Platinum: 6.4M + 2M = 8.4M Platinum

Not really buried...but it's 4 posts above.

Fare classes differ between airlines, however for most *A airlines (incl. AC)

Business books into I class
Economy books into X class

Excuse me if this is a trivial question, but I am new to considering KVS. Is there a simple way to show upgrade availability (NC) on UA on a given route for a date range? This would be really useful given how far UA has tuightened upgrade availability.

You can use the KVS tool to search for UA upgrade availability.

If by 'on a given route for a date range' you mean entering one set of dates and asking it to spit back which dates have NC or NF space, then no.

But you can pretty easily scroll through a series of dates on at a time to see whether there's upgrade space. Much quicker than using the United website to do the same.

It would be under "Q: Is there a way to automatically request availability across multiple dates?"

Thanks. The answer in the FAQ seems to contradict what gleff said above, but if you can just <ctrl><page down> it would still be a lot faster than the UA website, which seems to think for at least 15 seconds when modifying a request. I'll gamble $15 and give it a try in the next day or two!

You have to manually scroll through the range of the dates. You cannot say "give me all the flights this week" but you can query each of the 7 days and use the keyboard commands to reasonably easily scroll through the days. You do still have to wait for the app to go query .bomb and parse and display the data but it is faster than using .bomb directly because of the way it reformats the data for reading.

And you have to be willing to put up with the "RTFM" help offered when you ask a question.

Well, perhaps the ability to do this with KVS is past tense - as of a bit past midnight 14-May the UA Award/Upgrades method seems to be broken.
It doesn't appear to be gone from the UA website, so I think that means waiting for KVS to do another program update to bring back the functionality.... (Notice that it also has not separated the flight # from the carrier, and puts 'seats' in the Flight # column.)

[KVS Availability Tool 5.4.4/Diamond - ITA: Awards-Upgrades/X1]
Code:

HNL  Honolulu Int'l HI US [PHNL]
LAX  Los Angeles Int'l CA US [KLAX]
TUE  08 Jun 2010

Carrier    Flight  From  Depart    To    Arrive    A/C  St  Availability
---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  --  ----------------------------------------------
United 80  seats  HNL  06:50    LAX  15:21    763  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert
United 82  seats  HNL  12:50    LAX  21:28    763  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert
United 84  seats  HNL  20:05    LAX  04:37 +1  763  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert
United 72  seats  HNL  06:35    SFO  14:50    763  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert
-> Unite  seats  SFO  16:00    LAX  17:34    752  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert
United 72  seats  HNL  06:35    SFO  14:50    763  0  Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert

I am set to expert, and I can see the XF,XC,XY,NY,NC,NF buckets/availability on the UA website....

I have the same problem as noted by VRichard. Was working fine a couple of days ago but now getting message "Incorrect MP Profile Settings -- Set To Expert". However, my MP profile is still set to expert.

Indeed, one of the problems with an application that is reading data from websites and reformatting it for display is that when the underlying data format is changed an update is required. I'm sure an update will be along eventually.
