What else am I not understanding. I missed that note in the help section. That is good to know.
I understand UA932 not displaying because of Y0. However, I do not understand UA974 not displaying since it is Y9. What does a return have to do with it? |
NW fares
I think KVS FAQ should be amended to say that Fares/PSH method does not show NW fares.

UA does not have one-way awards, so, internally, all searches have to be made on a round-trip basis. The 'dummy' return segment is currently fixed at departure date + 2 days.

I'm looking at award availability on NZ between APW and TBU next February. NZ flies the route once per week - on Wednesdays. I'm getting the following result (for all days in week).
Any explanations? [KVS Availability Tool 5.1.5/Diamond - SNT: Awards/StarAlliance/JP-ANA] Code:
APW Apia Metro / Apia Faleolo WS = APW FGI [NSAP] |

This is interesting to know. Would it work if the dummy return was set for +60 days in order to increase the likelihood of avoiding Y0? Alternatively, given that the user may be looking for a return flight as well, allow the user to pick the return date and display both segments?
In any case, none of this should be necessary, since you can now select a nominal cabin class in the latest version, which makes these rare situations even more unlikely. |

[Awards/StarAlliance] cannot show availability, when no flights (on any supported carrier) exist in the opposite direction on the same date. NZ only flies TBU-APW on Tuesdays.
So, no way to know if there's award availability for such flights - other than phoning the airlines? |

The Awards-Upgrades/CX is no longer working. Might have something to do with the fact that the format / interface on the CX website for redeeming Asia Miles has also changed...

I used to use KVS to check for upgrades, and then my home went all Mac, so it became a hassle to load Boot Camp on VMWare simply to check a flight.
So I've been using http://publicbackup.com/shared/flyertalk/availability/ -- the ITN.Net service.... ....But that doesn't seem to show I class (upgrade) availability any more.... So what do folks recommend for a simple and quick lookup these days? |

Right. But the tool above doesn't seem to show R class. Any suggestions?
