St = Stops, i.e. the number of stops the plane makes getting from A to B

Important news for http://www.KVSTool.com/Images/Logo.gif KVS Availability Tool users in light of major airline industry changes.

As you may already know, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has now announced that its new Resolution 0401.2bis has been approved and declared effective 31 April 2009. The Resolution in question is binding on all of the IATA member carriers, which include virtually all major airlines worldwide. The following is a short summary of the key changes:
  1. All existing revenue management mechanisms will be phased-out. Airlines will be permitted to file a total of no more than 4 fares per route (one for each cabin). Seasonality restrictions, advance purchase rules, as well as minimum/maximum stay requirements will no longer apply.

    Current Fare Displays:

New simplified Fare Displays effective 31 April 2009:

  2. Multiple booking classes will be eliminated, and availability displays will, likewise, reflect the simplified availability:

  3. Award and upgrade capacity restrictions will be removed. Therefore, there will no longer be a need to check award and upgrade availability separately.

Further information will be posted on the KVS Availability Tool Homepage (http://www.KVSTool.com/) as it becomes available...

We also wish to take this opportunity to thank all existing members for their support of the KVS Availability Tool Project during the era of complex airline pricing and award/upgrade capacity controls.

Bonus points for effort involved. If only everyone incorporated mockups in their pranks.

Best fares on Sabre Dot/Res not found on airline web sites

I want to go from YOW to MCO on May 31, and return on June 2, 2009.

According to the Sabre Dot/Res function, the cheapest return fare is CAN$278 ( base fare, pre-taxes/fees). I want to go on either AC or UA - but the web sites' cheapest economy fares are considerably more than that.

Do the fare tools give all published fares, whether they are sold out or not, or only the available published fares? Or to put it another way, why don't I find the chapest bases fares on the AC or UA web sites to more or less match what the KVS tools lists, under it fare functionalities?

Any chance of programming a KVS version for the iPhone ?
This would be a great app on the road!
