I'm aware of the domestic coding but i'm looking at truly international flights like FRA-IAD on 3 Feb 2015. FS comes up as FS/ even though UA is operating a 3-class cabin

See this:

Code:

FRA  Frankfurt Metro / Intl DE = FRA HHN [EDDF]
IAD  Washington Dulles Intl DC US [KIAD]
TUE  03 Feb 2015 | 1 Seat

Carrier    Flight  From  Depart    To    Arrive    A/C  St  Award Availability
---------  ------  ----  --------  ----  --------  ---  --  ------------------
UA        988    FRA  11:25    IAD  14:35    777  0  FS/  CS-  YS+
LH        418    FRA  12:50    IAD  15:55    74H  0  FS-  CS+  YS+
UA        933    FRA  17:00    IAD  20:05    777  0  FS/  CS-  YS+

Quick question. I looked at the KVS FAQ and read from many on here that they are able to use KVS tool to search Delta award availability.

Because of this I became a contributor and now that I've been using the tool I haven't been able to figure out any way to view upgrade space on DL flights (like OP inventory, medallion upgrade space, mileage upgrade space, etc.).

Is this possible? If not, I don't have much need for this product...

Short answer: KVS can't do what you're looking for.

Longer answer: to clarify your understanding, for most (all?) award searches, KVS does not provide access to any data you couldn't already get yourself electronically--hence it asking you to provide login credentials for various frequent flier programs. The system just scrapes the particular website, in addition to providing a few handy features (ex. saving searches). The only way that I'm aware of to see DL upgrade space is to call in (I could be wrong, been a while since I cared about seeing DL's inventory).

For the record, I will point out that KVS does not claim to display DL upgrade availability, only award inventory.

Availability is back up again, thanks to KVS. I'm afraid availability is a deal breaker for me.

KVS can I trouble you with one minor wish - now that Availability's back up, can you make that the default option instead of Timetable? Small inconvenience but much appreciated if you can do it!

+1

Also it would be nice if it remembered if the "Direct only" option is on or off when saving the search as a favorite.

And also if when opening the favorite it would execute the search automatically rather than just displaying the search parameters and requiring to press "Go". This would let me save all my searches in a links/favorites folder and just right-click and "Open All links in folder" to immediately execute my saved searches.

What POS does the availability search use now?

It does not match ExpertFlyer US or UK POS for several airlines.

You mean award availability or do you mean purchase availability? The latter it seems is only on the mobile companion...I've just updated to 7.7.4.R1 and there is no Availability tab.

KVS, can you tell me what POS is used by the mobile companion (the only 'purchase' availability function I can find)?

I've been getting discrepancies between KVS and actual BA availability for BA1 on LCY-JFK. The KVS output does not seem to match either UK or US POS. Is it using some other POS?

I think he is speaking about availability via the mobile companion (web) interface at m.kvstool.com. The desktop app still does not have availability.

That's what I thought...it may be a long time.

This appears to be an issue with the [Awards/StarAlliance] Engine.
If you use [Awards/AC-StarAlliance], both FS & CS Classes are shown on UA TATL flights.

Unfortunately not, as cmn.jcs correctly advised, but welcome to FlyerTalk all the same, thebigtees! :)

I always felt that KVS worked best for me but it looks like time has come to switch to a different tool - how does for example ExpertFlyer compare?

A comparison would be off topic here, but there have been several threads discussing the merits and weaknesses of the three most popular tools. This is the most recent and useful that I'm aware of:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...pertflyer.html

You'll find several more by searching, but bear in mind that statements about what the three options are capable of can become obsolete very quickly. The KVS 'tool', in particular, has lost a lot of functionality in recent months.

And it now seems to be working again on KVS availability tool....weird issue

KVS Tool / MC not working properly

The mobile companion is not showing the availabilty properly.

No availability for A3 flights, it only shows the LH (codeshare on A3) flights:
