Welcome back!
1) Add a reverse route button where applicable. (I.e. after I do a search for route TPA-CLT, I want to search CLT-TPA without creating a new search… would be faster to revise search and click reverse route button and change the date)
2) Add a way to create an alert for if x seats became available in all fare classes. IIRC now you need to create an alert for each fare class individually, but I just want to be alerted if any seat opens up on a sold-out flight.

It would be really nice if the "Fare Basis Code" search worked with regular expressions or any other kind of fuzzy matching. Like I want to see a list of all fares starting with K for example. This isn't the same thing as all fares booking into K (the "Class Code" box) and sometimes there are too many fares to sort all of them.

Second, I don't know if this one is easy, but some time in the last couple years EF stopped showing the fare rules in some cases where my original search "departure date" doesn't match the fare seasonality. This might be an issue with de-duping fares or hitting the GDS, but I usually want to see the full table and not have to change my search just to open up different fare rules.

Availability alerts that work on Codeshares (opposed to the operating flight number) would also be nice.

ExpertFlyer Beta Program

I just got an email from ExpertFlyer asking if I might be interested in joining a Beta program to test and provide feedback on new features. I gather there are a few on here who also use EF so will be interesting to see what these are. I'm sure a few here also received the same email.

The email suggests:

What's in it for you:

  • Be among the first to test new flight search and alert capabilities
  • Direct access to our development team
  • Shape the features that matter most to you
Your participation would require about 1-2 hours per week during the months of April and May testing new features and providing feedback.
Who knows, maybe one of the new features will be R class visibility :D (I'm 99.9% sure this is determined by NZ and not EF).

I'm generally pretty happy with the value I get from my EF subscription and will be interesting to see what kinds if features they are adding.

I joined.
Not much difference as far as I can tell. Updated but very similar UI.

Yes, but I think this is a good thing. We are after all experts. That word is in the title. The beta from a few years ago felt like it dumbed down the user interface too much, so I am pleased that the current beta keeps things largely the same. The EF team should focus on functional enhancements like those suggested in recent quotes.

That said... the new UI, like the previous beta, has too much white space. Far fewer results appear in the same size of window. I provided this feedback already with side-by-side screen shots showing the difference.

And the mobile version needs work... for example, the seat map view fills the entire mobile screen with the legend which appears before the actual seats view. At a minimum this should be swapped so that the legend follows the seat view.

However, as an annual subscriber since almost day one, I am hugely encouraged that ExpertFlyer Voice is back and it appears that we now have a development team assigned again. THANK YOU!

While it's nice that they're doing development, I found the beta to be worse than the current system in many ways...hopefully, they will act on my feedback (and I'm sure others had the same observations) before forcing everyone to the new system.

Thanks for the feedback dkerr ! We've made some changes to the beta link to reduce the white space. Mind checking it again and let me know your thoughts?

It would be great to have more alerts created automatically or with much of the information pre-filled. For example, if one creates a seat alert, there is a button to create an aircraft change alert that does not prompt users to again enter flight info. How about another button so flight schedule alerts are automatically created?

now, since a large segment of the population flys round trip, how about a button to automatically reverse the origin and destination, keeping same airline, and allowing us to just enter the new flight number?

We've been thinking about this. Will DM you to get a few more details!

Hello ExpertFlyer Voice.

Thank you again for returning to the fold and for your input and feedback so far!

One tiny glitch you might want to take a look at are Schedule Alerts.

I find these very useful and prefer to enable them the moment I've booked my flight alongwith Aircraft Change alerts and Seat (insurance) alerts in case my selections are enhanced away by BA which seems to be a common occurence nowadays.

Anyway, to the Schedule Alerts, I'm slightly odd in so far as I tend to book flights the moment they're released so in the case of BA, this will be 355 days prior.

If I'm in the same/equivalent month as the booking for the following year, for example, it's now April 2025 and I've just made a booking for April 2026, the site tells me I have successfully set up a Schedule Alert for that flight. However, when I go to Saved Alerts, the alert isn't there and it didn't actually save.

I subsequently worked out a very long time ago that if I wait until the following month and then retry saving the alert on say 1 May 2025 for a flight in April 2026, it will then save and stick.

My current solution is to make a diary note to set any Schedule Change alerts on the 1st of the following month.

I have mentioned this in the past in messages to your Customer Care team but I never really got anywhere with them.

Is it a glitch or given that Seat and Aircraft Change alerts can be set '13' months in advance in April 2025 for April 2026 for example, is there a simple button that needs flicking somewhere in the interface that will enable the Schedule Alerts to also stick?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

My top feature request would be to get TK inventory/seat maps restored - I know it's not available in Sabre, but it's available in all other GDSs.

Without TK in ExpertFlyer, I don't plan to renew my subscription in the future.

Hi ExpertFlyer Voice

Can your IT team add in the airport QSR (Salerno Pontecagnano) airport in Italy?
British Airways are operating London Gatwick - Salerno flights this summer, but I can't view the loads, timetables or seat charts via EF.

Great news! We have added (QSR) Salerno, Italy, Salerno Pontecagnano to the list of airports. Let us know if you encounter any difficulties.

I also consider TK inventory and seat maps my top priority. If they’re not restored soon, I’ll unfortunately need to let my monthly EF premium subscription lapse.

ExpertFlyer Voice Apr 16, 2025 3:23 pm

We're working on restoring TK inventory. Will let you all know as soon as we have ETA
