I just canceled auto-renewal of my subscription.

The horse has expired!

Sounds like EF has died.........sad, as it was useful. Where else can we go to see seat availability other than dong dummy bookings to see seat charts (a real time suck!)

At least they are finally acknowledging the issue:

You'all know that EF looks like it was created using Windows 98 for Geocities, right? I'm surprised some people seem to be expecting a level of Customer Service on the level of Apple or Amazon here.

Edit..actually, I'm not surprised as this is FT after all. Carry on.

I'm confused by your comment. They collect our $99/year or $9.99/month so regardless of the user interface and its appearance, they should provide the services they're charging us for. Do you not agree? If my plumber shows up in an old pickup truck, should I expect an inferior pipe repair than if he shows up in a brand new Tesla cybertruck?

I wrote EF last week requesting a refund for my unused portion of my subscription (re-upped Sept 20) and surprisingly they actually wrote back and refunded me my subscription price without question.

EF is an awesome service, and I really appreciate it. But using it reminds me of back in the days when I was pirating Satellite TV Smart Cards…and knowing full well it could crash at any moment. The site looks like it belongs on the dark web and to my knowledge, has not been updated in years.

To your example, if a plumber is offering a service that normally costs thousands of dollars for a few hundred, then I’m not expecting the same quality or level of service, regardless of the truck they are using.

So a site providing fringe information to a small select part of plane-geeks that normally requires a subscription to massive airline frameworks for basically $0.25 per day…when it had technical issues, I’m not expecting a speedy recovery and service with a smile. Fingers crossed they can find a solution, but i'm not holding my breath, and I have always paid them month per month.

Also, if a plumber shows up in a Cybertruck, I am immediately turning them away. A plumber needs a Cargovan type vehicle or Cube Trick with large volume of storage for tools and parts and such. Showing up to a job in a Cybertruck immediately tells me they are likely incompetent and more concerned with how people view them then getting the job done.

Looks like it’s working again now?

Cerebus Oct 29, 2024 1:34 pm

Seat maps now working for me. At least for BA and JL, that is.

Working for me too for a flight later this week on AA... but it is only partially accurate. Only the AA BLUE seats (basic economy) are accurate.

Yes working for me too thankfully.

Just have resubscribe. Would have been nice for some acknowledgement and a free month, for example.

So pleased to see it working again.

Finnair still gives the error message, and the 1-2-1 layout appears to have become 2-2 on some of the BA planes…. But otherwise nice to see it back!

Figures

I just received a few aircraft change alerts which can’t function without the seat maps working and sure enough, it’s working for me too on BA. I also tried it on PG and it works there as well with 100% accuracy, at least for my seats. Maybe EF will explain what happened, maybe they’re waiting to make sure there are no more issues before saying anything officially but having cancelled my annual sub, I will now be resubscribing but on a monthly basis. It’s so good to see it’s back - let’s hope it’s permanent but given that it is back, am I being too optimistic to believe this might be some form of commitment from EF?
