Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
  • Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
  • Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS

To search AA upgrades:
  • Use the Award & Upgrade tool
  • Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
  • To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

I guess I'm asking if there's an ExpertFlyer alternative for BA, or how to determine if there's space available on BA besides calling daily.

SeatSpy.com is one, I like their calendar view.

Is there a way to create an alert for a CONNECTING itinerary?
For example: "U code available for TPA-CLT-BOS"
Now, TPA-CLT is showing 7 seats availability in U class.
But CLT-BOS is showing 0 availability U class.
In searching TPA-BOS, connecting through CLT, EF is showing 6 seats available in U, for BOTH flights. (Same flight numbers as individual leg searches)

Expert Flyer allows me to create an alert for class U on TPA-CLT leg. And it will let me create a separate alert for class U on CLT-BOS leg. But I am looking to get notified when the connecting pair of flights has U availability.

The beta of their new system has this functionality. Although it's been in "beta" for well over a year, if not longer, and I have no idea what their plans are for it. It was supposedly by invitation only at one point.

Recently I've been unable to query Fare Rules for Qatar Airways fares. Seems like any attempt to display fare rules for a QR fare gives an error such as: "Fare Rules Unavailable: Fare rules cannot be displayed. This may be due to multiple fares existing for fare basis RJTHP3RX". This used to work in the past, and viewing routings still works fine. What's going on?

Expertflyer.com Fare Rules error
This has always been happening when three are multiple fares with RJTHP3RX fare basis. I have sometimes been able to get around by further restricting my searches to actual dates or having both in- and out-bound dates etc.

Seat map for LH cannot be displayed anymore. Keep getting the message "An error has occurred while communicating with the airline reservation system. The support team has been notified of this problem. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Wasn't working yesterday for AA1101 12/1/23:
  • The requested information could not be retrieved or is not available. This is likely due to invalid input criteria or lack of access to the information from the airline. Please revise the search parameters and try again.
Same error today.

Same here: AA seat maps mostly error out with the same message, but occasionally work.

Interesting, I've only tried about 20 times. I know there's 0-1 seat left so waste of time but it's still fun to look.

Inconsistent for me. I have 2 flights in a few hours, and only sometimes will the seat map come up.

ExpertFlyer really needs to address this as it also prevents the seat alert function from working.

Clarity on expertflyer availability query

I booked the first half of a reasonably comprehensive DONE4 six months ago. The start date is February 2024, commencing in Japan and travelling through North and South America, Europe then back to Sydney for 2 months, before spending October and November in Asia, finishing in NRT at the end of November. I have been checking Expertflyer for D seats on 24 November SGN-NRT but JAL and Malaysian are displaying no availability in D out of SGN at all - plenty of availability for everything else? Can anyone tell me what this means? Apologies if this info is already available in here somewhere - I seem to be woefully inefficient at doing searches....

24-Nov-2024 is 361 days in the future (as of today - 29-Nov-2023)
It might be that JL and MH have not yet loaded their availabilities, so far in the future.

In Experflyer I'm seeing both airlines have plenty of availability in the days before the 24th
