Seat Maps: we're currently not able to show seat maps for flights departing within the next 24 hours for several airlines: DL, BA, QR , ANA, B6, & JL
Searches currently not working:
  • Upgrades - AY, BA, EK, EY, IB, QR, VS
  • Awards - AY, BA, IB, EY, QR, VS

To search AA upgrades:
  • Use the Award & Upgrade tool
  • Only search for individual segments (set the "Connection Preference" drop-down to "Direct/Non-Stop only"). Flight results that are part of a connection won't show the upgrade version of C or A inventory because AA only files upgrade inventory as individual, not married, segments. (Married segments show revenue inventory instead of upgrade inventory.)
  • To avoid confusion, check the "Exclude Codeshares" box, as AA awards and upgrades are not valid on codeshares.

Expertflyer alternatives

Reminds me of this thread... EF's attitude was interesting to say the least. And EK award functionality never returned.

I have also noticed this, along with seat alerts, too. A recent example: I had a seat alert on the seat I already had. When I moved myself from that seat, the seat alert did not trigger for another SIX HOURS! (That's not an isolated example... none of the alerts are as reliable as they once were.)

FWIW they gave me a pro rated refund on my annual subscription following these changes. No pushback. Pleased with their customers service.

Pro rated refund meaning you guys all decided to cancel and gave feedback for the issue in question? Or did you keep the subscription but asked for some $ back due to the issue in question?

AA C upgrade search seems bugged. Is showing C7 even when using award search (not flight availability)...

Yep. Happened last night too. I contacted EF about it. To their credit, they got right back to me and said that, basically, it's AA's fault. In other words, EF is working correctly, but AA is incorrectly showing the inventory. Apparently, this can happen when AA is updating their inventory buckets. From what I can see, award search for C (or A for that matter) shows revenue C/A in place of award C/A even when a proper award search is conducted.

I've not had to use the upgrades with BA until now, and I've googled, searched this forum, read SOME of these 195 pages but not all... how can one proactively discover if there are any BA routes for upgrade, whether it be intra-Europe aka domestic or greater? I've got a small one for myself and a large one for my father to find. Is there ANY option besides call AA Executive Platinum desk every day and ask?

I believe BA upgrades go into the same booking code as BA avois awards. So you need to find a flight that is available as an award in your desired class. Note also that if you desire business class then you have to purchase a premium economy. BA will not upgrade from economy to business on flights that have a premium economy cabin... they consider that a double upgrade.

I'm sorry, I don't think I'm clear on what you are asking. This thread is specific to ExpertFlyer. ExpertFlyer does not show/provide upgrade inventory for British Airways (and hasn't for quite sometime).

The list of EF supported airlines for upgrade inventory can be found here:
https://www.expertflyer.com/sessionlessClassList.do

Regards

P.S. EF does show "V" class inventory, but that is a very specific corner case only relevant to BAEC Gold members and its economy space.
