I just noticed that ITA makes an app to look up routes and prices. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onthe...382818039?mt=8
I haven't really put it though its paces, though its gotten some good reviews. |

Augmented Reality Plane Finder:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/plane...&affId=972145# This app looks pretty cool, if it is real. Point your iPhone 3GS or 4 at a plane in the sky and see the details of the airline, route, etc... Sounds like an April Fools joke.:confused: |

Even if it had such access, does it have the processing power to track and sort which plane it could be in real-time? |
OK, I found Plane Finder, by pinkfroot limited.
In the detailed description, it refers to ADS-B feeds used by most European airlines to identify the flight, position and other data. I'm really surprised that this data is available for public use like this. They won't let us board airliners without taking our shoes off and only being able to take a certain amount of liquids on board. Yet they publish detailed data about individual flights that anyone can see? |

Since there are many manufacturers of ADS-B equipment, the protocol is a standard so that they can inter-operate. As a result, anyone can read the standard and build a box to decode the data according to the standard. |
VLC is out for the iPad ( free). A must have if you want to watch movies that simply do not natively work in iTunes or on the iPad.

crash, crash, crash. So bad I had to delete and reload it. Can't figure out how to remove files from iTunes, maybe from the app itself. Won't run .mkv files, i think that is what was causing the crashes. Only one button on the app, no help files that I could see, and almost nothing on iTunes about how it works, what files it runs, pretty much nothing. Color me not impressed. |

Do you have to sync the movie files over?
Isn't there some app. that will stream from your Mac or PC over to iPad? |
Give it time, they probably didn't put a LOT of work into it not really knowing that/if apple would accept it.
I can play divx rips or encodes, vob files, .avi, .flv (it seems) and the files from my creative cams which are .avi, but in a format normally not easilly recognized by quicktime players. I think we'll probably get a new update in about two weeks, and from there this will be a good ADD ON to the regular movies app. Downsides for me now, are the issues with getting files ONTO the ipad. The requirement to go into and out of itunes is really a pain. Add to that the interface for FINDING the location to source files it not intuitive. Apple really needs to make the drag and drop locations somewhat universal to all applications and then just let the apps "look" at this location. those that can play and see those files should be able to. I don't like the fact that I have music and some movies stored somewhere for itunes to sync on phones and ipads. Other locations for pdf files and epub books to load and source for ibooks. Another location for pdf files and documents for goodreader to sync and source., etc. One source to rule them all!! |

If you want to stream and have a mac or pc running on the LAN or WAN even, then you can use Air Video which works quite excellent IMHO. Converts on the fly, quality is excellent, takes pretty much everything I throw at it. But, it is a streamer and won't work say on a plane. |
