FAQ: Royal First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa information and access.
Thought with the number of FCL and Spa questions littering this board it might be worth making a sticky with all the available information and also provide a place for members to ask their questions. Please let me know if you think it is a good idea and please let me know if any of the information I have included is wrong or if you feel anything else needs to be added.

On leaving the massage you will be left with an overall sense of well-being and total relaxation.
• Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 minutes) – This is a great massage for passengers who are stressed, work at the computer too much or don't relax well. Neck and shoulder problems from routine activities are among the most common area for massage therapists to address. Using specific techniques the therapist will work to loosen tight muscles around the neck and shoulders whilst simultaneously assessing how much tension is held in the body and how best to release it. You will board your flight feeling more relaxed and a little lighter on the shoulders.
• Relaxing Hand Massage (30 minutes) – Are your hands tired from all that clicking, driving, messaging and typing? If so, how about offering them a break and giving them a massage they truly deserve? By massaging the major channels/meridians of the arms and reflex points in the hands, this deep hand massage is designed to thoroughly release tension that accumulates in the hands and arms from our daily tasks. finishing with warm towels for both arms encourage muscle relaxation; this treatment can help to deliver a total sense of relaxation.
• Relaxing Foot Massage (30 minutes) – Let's help prepare your feet for your onward journey, by taking the weight of them and giving them a relaxing massage that they truly deserve. Foot massage is a well-known relaxation therapy to help take care of tired feet. With the gentle touch of the therapists' hands, a sense of overall relaxation is induced. Deeper pressure by the fingers will help to stimulate your vital organs.
Spa access rules:
TG F departure = F spa access
*A F departures = No spa access
TG C departures = C spa access
*A C departures = No spa access
TG F arrival connecting to TG C = C spa access, however some people have been offered F spa access in this scenario
No guest are allowed regardless of class of travel
Q: Is it possible to book the spa treatment in advance?
A: No. You can book at First class check-in, at the FCL or the Spa itself - they will indicate the approx waiting time if more than a few minutes.
I have had some PMs from newer members who are confused by some of the abbreviations on this post. If you need help understanding them, FT has a great tool for looking up their meanings in the FT glossary.

I'm looking at booking 3F seats, but since TG never seems to release more than 2 to award space, I am likely going to book 2F+1C. I would be forced to book my 3-year-old into F, and my wife (or myself) into C.
Of course, we'd all have access to the FCL in this scenario, but could anyone comment on whether the wife can avail herself of the spa services, since the child would obviously not, or would they go by the boarding passes only?
Last time we went, the child was under 2, so no such problems :\

you may get lucky... if the total award allocation hasn't been exhausted, as soon as you have booked your 2 F seats a third may open up even while you are on the call. this is pretty normal. my friends are in the same situation as you... they book wife plus child into F and by the time that is done normally the extra seat is available.

2) I've had the thai massage (60 min version) but the table isn't situated properly for it and the massage women don't get good leverage as a result.
3) They do provide a little suite (provided you get Suite 1 ) and a little outfit as well in the form of disposable underwear.

1) Prior to FRA-BKK or do you have that reversed?

How long do the seasoned pros recommend allowing to fully enjoy the First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa?
I'm on TG 475 (BKK - SYD) in F in a couple of weeks and it doesn't depart until 7:10pm. I'm staying in BKK itself (at the Conrad - where I'm still a Diamond until the end of the month so I can checkout as late as 4pm). In trying to plan out my day in BKK, I'm trying to decide when I ought to head to the airport.
I don't want to spend all day sitting in a lounge when I can be either by the pool or seeing a city I've never been to before but at the same time I'd like to take advantage of the 60min massage as well as everything else that the lounge has to offer (not sure when I'll ever get to be back in it again).
I'm thinking arriving at the airport by 3-330pm should be more than sufficient (which means getting a cab from the hotel around 2-215pm). Does that sound reasonable or should I give myself more time (say arrive by 2-230 aka depart the hotel around 115pm)?

I think that should be just fine. I've once spent 10 hours in the lounge (one of the dumbest things I've *ever* done), though in my defense, it was either 10 hours or 2, and the point was to explore the city, but wife got food poisoning on the inbound flight, and so we just stayed in the lounge. On my next trip, I'll be spending something like 6-7 hours there, which is also too long (but flight schedules lined up), so you should be just fine with 4.
Thanks to both of you - sounds like it makes sense if I aim to leave the Conrad around 2 or shortly thereafter so I will do just that!

You were very correct.
I also changed seat at the lounge and they released an exit C seat on the UD.
By the way, on the oubound connecting F to F, the lounge was very busy at about 11 pm.
No escort to the seat and it was even difficult to find a seat.
I end up in the Dining room and they have a nice semi private room with a table for 6 within the main dining room. It was a good & quiet spot.
