For some reasons, AMEX bonuses always seem to require a battle to get it post on time as promised. (as versus the automatic process from Citi / Chase / BofA).
I have had incidents that bonuses not posted even after 2nd billing cycle and the CSRs eventually did manual "push" to make that happen. No explanation was given why it did not automatically post other than they could see the bonuses were "there" but "stuck" in the "pipeline". They do have ability to release bonuses mid-cycle if the bonuses are already there.

I was approved for the personal; Mrs. Boomdog was approved for both the personal and the business (the business was initially on a 14 day wait and approved today). No calls were placed.
I had heard that you can't apply for 2 amex within 90 days; this time it worked for Mrs. B.
90,000 SPG, woohoo...

The cards from this promotion came really fast. My mom's was here overnight. When I applied for SPG Amex back in April, it took a good long week to get here.

Any tricks on spending $1000 on each card within 3 months? That would be $4000 for 4 cards (2 per spouse). Terms and conditions received with the card say gift cards and gift certificates are not eligible
I do not have a need for high value items like TV etc. If buying coins, how would one sell it back with minimal loss?

Buying coins could work, but I believe you're risking future problems with AMEX.

Thanks for reply. Yes, I am going to try as much real spending as posible. Just in case, run into last minute shortfall, this would come in handy.

You could use it to buy Hyatt Gift Certificates at Costco stores at 20% off face value while they last :-)
(And AMEX is, conveniently, the only credit card Costco stores accept.)
On a related note, does anyone else find it amusing that you get a 3% statement credit for using the small business Starwood AMEX at Hyatt hotels and a 5% credit for using it at Marriott's select-service brands, but no discount at Starwood properties? You'd think Starwood would have negotiated with AMEX to have the discounts at competitors removed from benefits on the Starwood business card.
