Just tried but couldn’t but maybe they will be released? Wasted this month’s on 1000 only

WilcoRoger Nov 20, 2019 6:02 am

Meanwhile I complained to e-rewards about the non-availability of Avios redemption on my account. Here's their useless answer.

While we are tweaking a few things to optimize the brand-new website, some reward options may not be available for redemption straight away.

Don't worry, this is just temporary. Do keep an eye on your account rewards section, as all your favourite reward partners will gradually be made available again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

allturnleft Nov 20, 2019 7:40 am

I got this

Thank you for your e-mail.

I really do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Unfortunately, our partner Avios is offering 1000 point per redemption only as of the moment.

Same thing has happened to me today
Not certain what is going on,tried to do this yesterday and my BAEC membership number kept getting rejected.
If this latest redemption goes through, that means 3000 avios this month!!!

As an afterthought, the 1000 avios I received today, are still showing as "pending" on the new E Rewards web page.
Maybe, I will get an e mail saying the 2000 is cancelled as I have exceeded the limit(I hope not)

bisonrav Nov 20, 2019 9:32 am

I'd already received my 1000 avios into my BAEC account, and everything looks fine for the 2000 so fingers crossed.

craz Nov 20, 2019 4:49 pm

All I get is out of stock for both BA & IB and with BA its always been $35 for 1K, then again tahts all thatw as cashed out from that acct so maybe they KOed it for me

Ambystoma Nov 21, 2019 6:26 am

Seems like redeeming for Avios is popular. Is this generally considered the best redemption in Erewards? I've been redeeming for United miles. Would love to hear why Avios is the best bang for the buck if that is in fact the case.

Ambystoma Nov 21, 2019 6:30 am

Does anyone have any inside information on the changes coming to Erewards (there was an email that went out awhile back and the site now says "our all new site lands soon")? I'm worried that the changes will reduce the quality of the rewards and whether I should try and spend what I have stocked up now (about $900) or just keep going slowly with a monthly redemption.

Avios can be a very good value for single segment short haul routes on BA and a few other partners like AA and I think Qantas and one of the big players in Japan. Not so much for connecting routes since their pricing is per flight segment and they bite you with hefty fees on long haul award tickets.

i think that the perceived popularity of Avios redemptions is because we’ve got a lot of chatty Brits on FT

My redemption rotation is Alaska-BA-Flying Blue-United because it lets me build free miles in each major alliance (there are some useful sweet spots with FB for me and program changes in 2018 made it easier to keep miles from expiring) with Alaska as a wild card. BA actually isn’t a great option where I live but I got that account first and didn’t want to start over again with AA considering it’s not my primary alliance group

I would agree with this. Of the e-rewards airline partners, BA is popular due to the sheer number of routes available to people flying from the UK (especially London), covering short-haul and long-haul options.

The new "Premium" survey offers sure seem to be worthless to us (wife and I) so far. We have both received 6/7 "Premium" offers (although I don't know why a $1.50 survey would be Premium) and so far we have never got beyond the first screen before we were routed to a different survey. As a side note I now have 3 pending issues with e-Rewards with surveys freezing on the last page - "Survey complete, so you have any comments (optional)" - and when you click next there is no next. I had a high dollar two part survey yesterday, got the survey complete notice but it said I had been "re-routed" to a different place because something went wrong and nothing was credited. I have screen shots etc on all of them so just have to wait out the customer service built in delays hoping I'll just go away :-)

BA Avios is $35/1000. United MP is $50/1000. My redemptions on both put those two currencies at similar value, so paying 43% more for UA MP miles doesn't make sense to me. (While I value them about the same, their uses are very different. Avios is only worthwhile for direct flights under 2000 miles, while MP is best for multiple connections over long distances.)

I think most of us would advise that if you've got $900 saved up, you should start spending them IMMEDIATELY! (caps for emphasis). This long thread is filled with sad stories from people who found their accounts locked and closed (some because they abused, others for mysterious reasons) and their e-rewards currency gone forever. It doesn't pay to keep your bank full, because unlike real money, there is no "deposit insurance" and no recourse if it goes away.

+1 here. After a half dozen emailed offers I have still not been given the opportunity to complete a single Premium survey.

And in a similar vein, here's a totally outrageous screw up from SSI Surveys. I was taking a survey on Home & Family, which turned out to be questions about the purchase of entertainment-branded merchandise, i.e. T-shirts with Marvel or Disney characters on them. After truthfully indicating that I had not purchased any of these items, the next screen said "The R qualified for the terminate in the previous question and however the R will be allowed to continue the survey till the end of the screener questions and terminated at the end of the screener." Meaning we've already disqualified this guy, but we'll just let him answer the remaining screener questions anyway. Out of curiosity I answered the next few, and after each answer the same screen showed up. So essentially they are admitting (in fractured English) that they're going to waste your time answering questions with no chance of qualifying for the survey. Just wow.

Not yet, but it usually takes a little while. Would expect them by midweek.

Plus, many of the rewards are limited.

e.g. If you want to transfer "$900" to Avios, it'll take 26 months from whenever they make Avios available again, assuming you transfer exactly on the right day.

Arrived this morning. So that's 5000 avios in one calendar month over the change period, which I'm very happy with.

Initial 2000 from the "old" site, which changed a couple of days later to the new site allowing 1000, which then added an option for a further 2000 which was immediately withdrawable.

There seems to have been an uptick recently in surveys that screen out after being 100% completed. Just wasted 15 minutes answering questions about Claims Management Companies, passing 100% ("these are the final questions in the survey") before being told I didn't qualify.

bj2757 Dec 2, 2019 12:21 pm

I have three disputes pending with them about the same thing - the survey shutting down after completing them. On two I received replies saying it would be 2-4 weeks before they could do anything - I sent them both follow ups yesterday because nit has been a month for both - first reply I received this morning was it will now be until the end of Dec before they can resolve it...

jamesteroh Dec 2, 2019 7:49 pm

Anyone having bad luck with Best Buy redemptions? I noticed BestBuy had $100 Itune gift cards for $80 this weekend and cashed in the points for a $25 gift card Weds. I haven't redeemed for Best Buy in a couple years but I use to get the gift card within a couple minutes. Received an email about the redemption saying I should have the card in 24 hours and it's been almost a week and still no email.

I'm a little pissed off because I needed the card by Saturday and really have no use for it now, I guess when I finally get it I'll use it on an Amazon gift card.

I also have 3 claims with them where I completed the survey but didn't get the reward and where I got the 2-4 weeks response. I'm sure previously they would have given the points. Maybe this is the new standard response in the hope they won't need to give out so many points.

Redeemed on 15 November and the points were in my Hilton account on 26 November. I didn't think that was great as I'm pretty sure transfers were instantaneous but clearly better than others are experiencing.

It's been a while since I've transferred to Hilton. My preferred use of points was to Iberia Plus but since the new website has launched that option has vanished...

17 Oct for me - and still waiting

crombiestone Dec 8, 2019 7:33 pm

Waiting since 12th of October for Hilton reward . Hilton said that I should contact E Rewards but also said it was taking 6-8 weeks . I messaged E -Rewards and they just have not replied ! Other rewards are going through almost instantly so I still see this as a Hilton issue ?

neuromancer Dec 9, 2019 2:19 am

Probably just Hilton, I receive Avios and Accor regularly.

Steve in Olympia Dec 9, 2019 8:33 am

If the British Airways reward is never coming back in stock, you would think they would simply remove it from the rewards page.

Hope springs eternal.
