Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

Our JNB-DOH in April had QSuites and the seat map was updated a couple weeks prior. So it does happen.

Never flown in row 9, but I do know it only has one window instead of 2. I did fly in 11K recently, and aside from the absolutely amazing engine and wing views, it was pretty disappointing especially from a service factor. There was now room in the overhead bins for my midsized 25L backpack as there’s only one full sized bin and two mini-bins which were also being use by the crew, so they had to put all the way up by row 7; not too optimal to have to go to a different cabin to access one’s carry on. Further, because of the commotion of the Y pax boarding (you’re behind door 2L/2R) the FAs didn’t give me a pdb, osibori, give normal intros, and distribute menus until like 2 mins before pushback, so I ended up having like a sip of champagne before they had to take the glass. Also, they had run out of my first choice starter and breakfast choice (I had pre-selected my main luckily) as well as only having small-sized pajamas remaining. And, there was an infant in a bassinet in the first row of Y that was very loud. Lastly, since there’s only a single lav between the two J cabins, if it’s occupied, you have to walk all the way to forward lava in front of the J cabin. I should caveat that the flight seemed fully booked and I did arrive at the gate 5 mins after listed boarding time when boarding seemed to be fully commenced. Granted these issues were all based on my individual flight and you could have completely different circumstances, If you really want 11k and guarantee the best experience, I’d say make sure to board super early, pre-select your meal if flying out of DOH, and don’t bring a carry on larger than a briefcase. Otherwise I’d suggest sticking to the forward cabin.

Interesting, and good to know. On the 359, there's one lav immediately in front of door 2L and another immediately in front of 2R.

Nice, didn't know they flew Qsuites on that route at all.

Thanks for that feedback I'm currently booked in the rear last quad row 11/12 a351, would you not recommend that last quad cabin then? Just thought it would be less noisy but hopefully wont be forgotten about from the hosties,

I've flown the 359 many times, but never the 351. I don't like the small J cabin at the rear. Much prefer the front cabin.

Its bad luck, but it happens. My entire ORD-DOH-BLR-DOH-IAH was suppose to be all Qsuites. Only the ORD-DOH actually ended up being Qsuites.

Interestingly enough on the DOH-IAH portion, I sat next to a 777 captain on his free flight and he told me that the plane was suppose to be a 772L but got changed last minute to the 773ER and that wouldn’t happen in the winter because the 773 wouldn’t be able to make it because of temperature.

It was really too bad because I loved the Qsuite product from ORD-DOH and was looking forward to seeing it on other routes. I think it is definitely a game changing product for the airline industry.

Thank you very much for the insight and feedback. I think I'll go for 9A unless something else turns up.

Just had a last minute switch from the legacy 777 seat to QSuite on the QR833 tonight. Happier than a pig in sh*t.

I have Q suites from ICN to DOH on 20th and seat selection was a nightmare. Kept telling me that I couldn't select any available seat because I am a single traveller. Ended up getting in touch with the twitter team who told me they have got ICN to put in a particular seat. Not showing in the booking but that may be because my booking is under airport control...

I don't understand. In the winter, temps are colder, the air is thicker. So takeoff requires less runway length and climb is easier, no?

Where does Qatar refurbish the old 777s with Q-suites?
I noticed A7-BAV went to Rome on 14 May with an odd flight number (QR3251) and is still there as of today:

Sorry if this has been answered before but at what point do they unlock the quads on the Qsuite seatmaps? I was on a non-Qsuite seatmap which just changed to Qsuites but the entire middle section is blocked out and everyone has been assigned the side seats, we are travelling as a couple so don't want to miss out on the middle seats if possible.
