Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Our friends at Business Traveller, have filmed a video from within the suite.

It can be viewed here - https://www.businesstraveller.com/ai...usiness-class/

QSuite

If you haven't, watch Qatar Airways' New Business Class advertisement. It shows how seats function.

If that quote in the video msm2000uk posted is true, you were correct all along:

As revealed previously (and exclusively) to Business Traveller‘s Middle East editor the new seat “…will be across the fleet in B777s and A350s, and we have a new seat development for the B787s as this new seat can’t fit in the 787”.

So will be retrofitted to all aircraft it fits in - starting with the 777s.

Edit: I've now watched the 3D-Tour and by the looks of it I would tend to say that it is the forward section of an A350-1000. Regarding the seats, I only have to comments: The "family rooms" may get a little annoying if people start something similar to "kids table" in restaurants. I somewhat dislike the many violet tones. Other than that it looks rather promising.

Oh wow. I think it looks amazing - especially all kitted out in QR's signature colour scheme.

Pretty similar to the Fusio (except the S shape of the seat backs mean they will be narrower). Foot wells look much more generous and the suite's flexibility will be great for couples or families travelling together - although I presume there will a moveable divide on the "double beds" for single travellers.

Can't wait to try it! (Maybe by 2019?!?! )

Within 3 hours, we will be critiquing the seat against all other carriers
Within 4 hours, we will be assuming the cost increases to routes offering the new J seat
Within 5 hours, we will be contemplating which routes will get the new J seat first
Within 6 hours, we will be wondering when a Sale will happen, so we can book to try the new J seat (remembering we absolutely don't like it)
Within 7 hours, myself and fellow Co-Mod will be removing posts about how CX and SQ offer a better product (despite the majority of posters writing, having never tried the product themselves)
Within 10 hours everyone will be friends again, and AAB will have insulted someone which will make us laugh
Within 12 hours we'll be praising the new J seat.

Something like that I reckon

I'm sorry msm2000uk but we can skip point 2 and go straight to point 3:

And apparently, first LHR, second CGD and third JFK

Edit: Btw, some more pictures in that AirlineFlyer instagram

Am assuming that when the new A380 (A7-APH) gets delivered, it will be fitted with the Q suite.

Can't wait to see the layout in the 777. AAB says that even going from 2-2-2 to 1-2-1, the aircraft will maintain the same 42 J seats in the same space. 380 and 787 have to have the design "tweaked" because the seats are too wide to fit.

That's more than 6 aircrafts per month if they want to retrofit all aircrafts by January 2018 and still an impressive 5 aircrafts if they retrofit all aircrafts within a year (i.e. 12 months).

I read somewhere that they will retrofit around 3 aircrafts per month which would take them a little over 1 1/2 year.

This sounds reasonable, considering the sheer amount of seat pitch in the old 777 product (something I personally will miss, but the QSuite looks awesome nonetheless). Perhaps having the backwards facing seats too with foot cubby under the opposite pax table, helps cram more seats into the same cabin with the reduced 1-2-1 config.

No, apparently too narrow on the upper deck. A380 will get the same seat as the 787 - which will be similar in concept of absolute privacy.

This looks extremely good. Will look forward to sampling it sometime in the next couple of years. In the meantime, will enjoy the current 777LR seat on a few trips coming up.

Now one has to wonder how the competition will react. And what BA will do...
