What sort of meals can I expect when flying Long-Haul Business?
The Business Class meals served are of a far higher quality than those served by most other airlines.
This thread contains photos of actual Menus and/or Wine Lists as well as photos of the food. Discussion about Business Class food is to be found at business class food discussion

What is the menu for my flight?
Look at the index below and see if there is a recent menu for your flight.

There is no menu for my flight. What do I do?
If you are unable to find a menu relevant to your flight, find a QR flight which departs at a similar time to yours, and of a similar length.

Can I rely upon these menus being available when I fly?
No for a number of reasons
1 QR change their menus frequently, so you may be in luck and find the specific options for your flight.
2 Where there is more than one flight a day to a destination the menu varies according to the time of day. Who wants breakfast on an evening flight?
3 Menus may vary from destination to destination due to flight time, number of meals served, local culture etc.

The 2017 thread contains the newest menu for each flight for 2016 for continuity.
The 2016 menus can all be seen here.
Menus from earlier are mostly using another meals service system and cannot be used to understand the current menus.

Illustrated Menu index.
The index below contains per Destination, Flight numbers and Route, Type of Document (Menu or Wines), Year and month it was served and the post number or link to the post in this thread.

I thought most are catered ex-DOH? But the LAX-DOH menu encompasses most US-DOH (my menu said US-DOH instead of a station specific e.g. BKK-DOH). And ex-US catering is meh. I've never had a good meal ex-US on any airline in any cabin.

Did you happen to take a picture of the wine list?

Also, a question for broader discussion...do you think we'll see any beverage upgrades, like to vintage champagne or the '74 port, to compensate for the electronics ban?

lol. Keep dreaming. If anything, they might introduce loaner tablets and free WLAN for premium customers.

Yes, the food options were rather meh. The best part of the meal was the soup. Very tasty.

I did not take a picture as it was the same as the one posted in #135, with one change. The rosé was Lanson.

Bummer. Looks like I booked my QR J ticket just as they were downgrading their wine list.

Definitely a bit of a pipe dream, but better champagne might prove cheaper than tablets.

The flight was fine. My only real complaints were a lack of Pre-check which made the screening process a lot longer than it should have been and the walk to T2 from T4. The stop at TBIT for drinks and food eased that a little.

I sat in the front cabin and it was 15/24 full. I didn't look in the rear J cabin. Y seemed very light based upon the waiting area crowd. Service was good and attentive prior to take off and during meal service. After the lights went out the FAs disappeared though. I had to track one down for a Glenfiddich night cap. Amenity kit, PJs, slippers, and bedding were given out. I slept through breakfast so I can't attest to that.

Upon landing at DOH we had to reclear security, which seemed strange coming from the US.

T2 can be a blessing or a curse. Blessing for arrivals and curse for departures Short walk and almost no one at immigration, but poor lounge and security can be extremely long at times for departures.

I was trying to stay awake as we flew through northern Canada and Greenland hoping to catch another glimpse of the Northern Lights but we took a more southern route than usual and didn't see any (I flew DOH-LAX twice and I saw the lights once when I flew trans-polar and the other one was a 17 hours long daytime flight when we flew way south than usual - flying through Baku, Moscow, just a little north of Iceland and then down through Hudson Bay).

Breakfast was meh but that's when I order the ala carte items (the greek yogurt was good tho).

My flight used a remote gate when we arrived at DOH even though it's pretty empty at that time

I still think it's a really good list for J, but weren't they doing the 1974 port and $100+ vintage champagne for ULH flights before March?

That's incorrect.
Krug (or Comtes de Champagne) has not been served in J for years, only F pax. There is even a dedicated thread to Krug.
Very old port also disappeared a long time ago.

There were a handful of reports of the comtes this year, but that might be the end of it.
