I have a DONEx ticket issued by a TA on QR stock. The TA charges for making any changes, including date and time. Can I call QR to make date/time changes after taking the first flight? Are QR telephone agents familiar with xONEx tickets?

Yes, you should be able to change the ticket directly with QR after first flight. Be aware of big difference in QR service fees depending to which country number you call to. Don't have personal experience about xONEx changes with QR.

In theory, any OW airline can make changes to the ticket after the first flight, but it might be hard to get them do it.

Don't expect QR agents to have a lot of knowledge about xONEx fares, how they work, what the rules are, etc. And that could work both with you (they don't know that whatever it is that you're requesting isn't permitted) and against you (they don't know the rules, so it's easier to say that your requested change isn't permitted so they don't get left paying for their mistake).

My Perth TA simply passed on the charges that QR made for date changes to my xONEx. But then again we have cooperated for more than 15 years.....

Hi All,

I have a DONE ticket in issue and am trying to optimise the last legs to squeeze out as much as I can from it : ) Currently flown:
OSL-LHR (<24 hrs) - KUL (surface) DPS - HKG -YVR (surface) SAN - LHR -?

So basically I am currently in LHR and was wanting to add somewhere interesting to it. Seems Middle East, South Africa and Mauritius are excluded. I do have an Iceland trip planned so could do LHR-KEF-LHR (drop the OSL leg). But that’s pretty cheap Avios and limited mileage run potential. I would love to add SEZ but computer says no (any idea why?). Any other ideas for maximising distance/interesting location on this last leg?

Much appreciated.

Computer says no because the ticket you have is, apparently, a DONE3 and SEZ is in a 4th continent. You should be able to add anywhere that BA flies in the Middle East.

Thanks christep. Apparently the oneworld travel planner tells me I can’t include Middle East or South Africa/Mauritius.

You should be able to pay the historical fare difference to upgrade from DONE3 to DONE4.

It could be possible that the ticket is purchased before the rule change, when the stop in Europe needed to be transit without stopover so that the computer doesn't allow to add Africa anymore. Even if that's the case, you might be able to get over it by referring to current rules.

Technically, if you are using historical fare, you can't refer to new rules that become effective after original purchase. In reality, what the airline will say, I don't know.

In reality, an airline enforced the historical fare rule on me.

i had a fare ticketed on Dec 1, 2016 and it was the old fare rule that was attached to the ticket... I was trying to argue that there was a new fare rule on Dec 1, 2016 and it was firmly denied.

I think in practicality you will get the fare rules in effect when the reservations were first made.

correct, but some airlines are not very good at checking historical fare rule. I also have tickets that I think I can get around historical fare rule.
since they are all done by human being, i think it really depends on luck and skill (of the ticketing agent).

Sorry - just dawned on me - but given SEZ is in Africa, why is it ok to include e.g. Lagos or Accra but not SEZ? I get there is a specific exclusion for South Africa and Mauritius, but SEZ is listed in those exclusions.
