Perhaps I've missed something or simply misunderstand; but I think that you may be conflating two things. Your itinerary (at least as far as I can tell) does not currently have Africa in it. So to go to SEZ would add a continent.

There are some places in Africa that are considered to be part of Europe/Middle East for OWE tickets. Europe/Middle East is defined by One World to include Egypt, Libya and Sudan for the purposes of these tickets.

The South Africa/MRU exclusion stems from a different rule.

And Morocco.

I guess to put my question a different way - this route is valid on https://rtw.oneworld.com/rtw/ :
OSL-LHR (<24hrs) - KUL-(surface)-DPS-HKG-YVR (surface)-SAN-LHR-ACC-LHR-OSL

I.e includes Accra (and could be Lagos, Nairobi etc). But CANNOT be SEZ. Why?

One thing that comes to mind immediately is that you're using the online tool. It's well documented that the tool does not match the rules in a number of areas.

Hi All
If I may ask for some help regarding this proposed DONE4....HND-LHR-JTR-LHR-INN-LHR-YVR-PHX-MIA-LIR-MIA-JFK-SFO-MEL-BNE-MEL-NRT....Can I start in HND and finish in NRT ? ...Would prefer to finish in HND but dont have any sectors left having already used 16...hmm....Thanks in advance

Calchas Aug 20, 2018 6:44 pm

Is the appearance of both PHX-MIA and JFK-SFO allowed?

pyffii Aug 20, 2018 6:46 pm

may I ask why not as both are transit

Full Score Aug 20, 2018 6:55 pm

Only one direct trans-continental US flight allowed.
Yes, you can begin in HND and finish in NRT.

For latest rules go to

Scroll to bottom: Terms and Conditions
And open: oneworld Explorer rule sheet

have flown many times LHR-YVR-DFW-LIR-MIA-JFK-LAX-MEL on a DONE4....with DFW and MIA transit connections....and just last month flew LHR-YVR-DFW-LIR-MIA-JFK-HKG-MEL....reading the rules it says a second arrival departure is permitted with the second being a stop over....in my case SFO....unless I am not understanding the rules correctly

Being in transit doesn't change the trans-continental rule, e.g. you can't do LAX-MIA-JFK-SFO. They would force you to do something like LAX-DFW-MIA-JFK-SFO which is obviously an extra segment.

pyffii Aug 20, 2018 7:21 pm

So you are saying that even JFK-LAX-MEL would not be legal if arriving into YVR ?? But JFK-DFW-LAX-MEL or JFK-DFW-SFO-MEL would be legal ?

Does rule (l) mean that only one of the listed transcons can be included, or only one per combination? E.g., would SYD-PER-DRW-SYD per permitted?
