CIBC scam
Just a heads up to all thinking the Tims $400 offer is a good one....I went to a branch,applied for the products,did the direct deposit and was then denied for the Credit Card via mail! I am retired with NO debt,No mortgage on 2 homes and have an excellent credit rating. I contacted branch,call center and social media. They agreed to look at my application IF I submitted my Record of Assessment from my taxes. I have not been asked for this EVER in the past by any other issuer. I even held a CIBC card up until last Nov. They also said that I should try not to apply for any other credit cards in the future ( just theirs I suppose).I still plan to escalate this. Stay tuned. Classic bait and switch? Not impressed.I find this very intrusive for such a low level card.

I finally found a decent deal on that website... it was ink cartridges for my printer... but any advantage to using shop.ca was lost when the Purolator guy drove away just as my wife got home, which meant a longass drive to the airport to get $30 worth of printer ink from the Purolator depot

If you have bad experiences, I'd say you're not shopping through reputable vendors. 99% of all my online transactions have gone off without a hitch (and I will say I have never used shop.ca). I've had far worse experiences shopping in person.

Anyone know score requirement for chase marriott, and i got rejected for marriot 3months ago, want to do a reapplication but EQ score is only 638, and I havent done any inquiries in past 90 days except 1 telecommunications which turned out to be hard hit.
Does telecomm hard pull on report get looked like same as credit products by credit analyst, and when I should be applying for marriott, when score is 650+?

My beef is mainly with delivery. When something gets sent by Canada Post, I can at least go and pick it up at the local postal concession if no one is home to accept delivery. No big deal. But when a company sends something by courier, I usually have no advance notice as to which one it will be so as to make the proper arrangements. When they show up at my house at 1 pm on a weekday and no one is home (surprise), they typically take it back to their depot by the airport and then the clock is ticking for me to pick it up within a few days before it gets sent back. This is a pain.
If I buy something from a non-Canadian supplier, then I get the pleasure of the above while having to deal with customs brokerage. I can do it myself at great inconvenience, or I can pay UPS or another courier $40 or whatever to spend 5 minutes filling out a couple of forms. Both options are annoying.
Maybe in the US they've worked this stuff out, but in Canada it's a pain. The only way I can guarantee a smooth online purchase experience is to order stuff from a US website and have it shipped to a US address and just go there and pick it up myself.

Glitches with the actual order are very rare, although as it turns out the shop.ca in the order I mentioned failed to include two ink cartridges as promised - only one. So they are sending out a second package. Way to go, shop.ca

I have been burned by UPS before... I didn't realize it was just one of those "little things they do".

As a follow-up to the dcta Alaska MBNA article and him indicating that you can have numerous Alaska cards - I talked to an MBNA rep who indicated that is allowed. She indicated that another application does get the 25,000 sign-up points too.
I have the card but didn't try another application even though she indicated that when you do it over the phone, you get an additional 1,000 points. If I decide to apply again I will go the GCR route anyway.
Has anyone got more than one Alaskan card? Even though the rep said that all will work, I know MBNA does hard credit pulls and I wouldn't want to have that to find out they won't give you another card in your name.
